My mother, who is 100 years old and has only one leg, resided for about 5 years at River Rock Assisted Living. Recently, she sustained a hip injury which greatly reduced her mobility. In order for her to remain in her apartment at River Rock she had to have more assistance than the staff could provide, so I moved into her apartment and became her constant companion. The administration and staff at this facility went out of their way to make it possible for my mother to remain there. The staff is well trained and very caring. The administration is very responsive to resident needs. The facility provides many activities for the residents, both on the grounds and away, including meals at restaurants in the area, sight seeing trips, shopping trips, and so forth. Throughout the year holidays and special occasions are appropriately celebrated. Of course, residents also have access to their own health care providers, with transportation provided to appointments.The plant at River Rock is gorgeous. The building houses apartments for 50 residents and is built of log and stone in a style that fits into the western ranch style of the community. The maintenance crew is thorough, accommodating and timely with repairs and upkeep of the beautiful building and grounds.The only thing that keeps me from giving this facility a five star rating is the food. The meals are appropriate, and served on time but the food is not as good as it should be and certain aspects of the service could be improved. The administration worked hard the six months that I was there to overcome these deficiencies, and when my mother had to move to a full care facility and we left River Rock, the food situation was improving.Today if I had to move into an assisted living facility, I would choose River Rock with no hesitation.
