I went to Brookdale Shadowlake. The staff was lovely, very informative, and very helpful. It would have been very satisfactory, but my stepson and his family live closer over at the other place. They're very willing to go out of their way to answer any of your questions, to do things, to help you in any way that they possibly can to make you feel comfortable. It's a smaller property with about three buildings on that delightful, very cute little property. It was very friendly looking and appealing. I only said hello to a couple of the staff, but the lady during the tour was really wonderful and very helpful, and called me quite often to see how I was doing, to follow up with me and everything.

My tour at Brookdale Shadowlake was very helpful. The staff was attentive and answered all my questions. I saw a studio apartment, they had common spaces, and I also saw the dining area, and they all seemed fine. The facility seemed small.

We toured Brookdale Shadowlake. The staff there is not as well-trained in dementia and memory care as in the other facility. We saw some instances there where we thought that they seemed short-staffed, and the staff handled the situation poorly. We were about ready to move my uncle in there because it's nicer and the room is bigger, and then we thought no. However, the rooms were nice and large and the private bathrooms were nice.

Brookdale Shadowlake was well-kept. They offered three meals a day, snacks, and activities for the residents. They were also pet-friendly, so that was a bit of a difference there. Pricing was a bit higher and the choices weren't apartment styles, but more efficiency single rooms/ studio apartments. We wanted a more 'at home' like feeling, but overall, the tour itself was fine. We just didn't feel that it would be a good fit, but it may be perfect for someone else.

I chose Brookdale Shadowlake for my mother. It had multiple buildings, but this building looks like a large house. When you're looking at it from the front, it looks like a large two-story house. It has more of a home setting. Each building had its screened-in porch. They had a porch in the front. Out of all the places that we visited, Brookdale ShadowLake was the most active, and friendly seniors. So they were introducing themselves to my mom, they were saying hi, without us asking, they were telling her that it was a great place, that they enjoyed it, and that they had everything that they wanted. If you ask for anything, they bring it to you. That way, when I put my mom there, she's going to be with friendly seniors, that are going to approach her, she's not going to have to feel lonely, and that nobody wants to talk to her. And the other thing is that out of all the places we saw, Brookdale ShadowLake was the only place that had all- inclusive pricing, it's the most economical too. There's a major hospital within a mile from there.

Brookdale Shadowlake is very nice and clean and the people seemed to be very nice. My father-in-law is fairly happy there. It looks to be very well-maintained and they have better medical care than the rehab center that he was in. My father-in-law has a large room with a small refrigerator, microwave, television service, laundry service available, and wheelchair-accessible bathroom. There is a call button for emergency help. The room also has a nice window and nice ceilings, but the resident has to supply all of the furniture and linen. They also have activities.
