While walking into this facility, you could not help but notice the smiling faces seated along the front veranda. It was a charming immediate impression. The look and feel of this 2 story building was warm, well placed, and inviting. I especially liked the fact that it is both Independent Living and Assisted Living, and both communities can feel free to mingle and be included in each other's activities. The staff seemed genuinely caring, and I could see that the residents appreciated them very much. I learned that several had been there over 10 years which I found to be refreshing. There is a sweet library where residents can feel free to read many donated books. The sweetest part was "The Librarian" who was one of the residents and clearly took pride in her duty there. I was told that they try to give every resident a special job if they so choose, as it helps enrich their experience there. While touring, there was a birthday being celebrated and the residents were enjoying ice cream from the quaint Ice Cream Parlor. In viewing the rooms, I was a bit discouraged to see the small size. They also were not as new as some of the other facilities I had toured. However, they let me know that they truly do desire for the residents to be engaged in activities and with one another, rather than sitting quietly in their rooms. It certainly made sense to me. I left feeling positive about my experience and confident that my loved one would be happy and social there.
