The Laurels Inc

A few weeks ago I received a job to sit with an elderly lady who lives at this nursing home. I was hired by her son, not the facility, because he does not want her to be alone. I stay with this lady for twelve hours at a time at night. Although I have not been staying with this lady for very long, I can so far say that this facility is very nice. It is more of an assisted living facility than a nursing home. There are some younger people who stay there as well. The people who work at this facility are very helpful. If I or the family have any questions they are always very prompt in answering our questions. Also, while I am sitting with her, if there is anything that I or she needs, they are very helpful. So far I have been very impressed with this facility.

When you drive up to the front entrance to this facility,you will notice how very well the grounds are kept up.The grass is cut good and all the trees and bushes are neatly trimmed. When you walk in there is a huge,very nicely decorated greeting room.This room is very well furnished and has a large stone fireplace.The facility has wall to wall carpeting in all of the residents bedrooms.The walls all have fresh,bright wall paper.The facility is very clean and tidy.There is a fresh clean smell through out the building.There is a very nice,large dinning room where the residents eat their meals.The tables all have nice clean tables on them and a nice floral center piece in the middle of the table.There is also a very roomy activity room.This room is used for all the residents activities that are done on a daily basis.These activities include bingo,card games and music appreciation.This facility has a pet program as well.On mondays and fridays the local animal shelter bring in a few dogs and cats for the residents to interact with.They all seem to really love their time with the pets.Overall,I think this is one of the best facilities I have ever visited.I would reccomend this place to anyone looking for a place for their elderly family members to live.

I personally found the Laurels to be a very nice and accommodating assisted living facility. The first thing you notice upon entering the establishment is the wonderful smell, a fact that in itself makes this facility unique compared to others I have visited. All of the rooms seem to be very well maintained and cleaned at all times. My uncle's room was always kept neat and fresh as it was normally cleaned twice a day. I felt as though all of his needs were attended to in a prompt and timely manner. He was well taken care of and that made me feel at ease. The only area that I feel could use an improvement, are certain staff members and their overall attitudes. Although this certainly does not apply to all, some of the staff can be unfriendly and often seem disinterested in you and your needs. Other than that, this is an excellent assisted living facility.

My mother is a resident at the Laurels personal care home. She moved in about three years ago after my father passed away. She has trouble remembering when to take her medications and needs assistance with bathing and just getting around at times. I was skeptical of admitting her to an assisted care home, because of all the horror stories I have heard. My fears vanished when I visited the Laurels Inc. The Laurels is located about 3 miles west of Harlan at Teetersville. The staff at the Laurels are awesome. The genuinely care about their residents and are constantly checking on them. Each room has an emergency call button that is located beside their bed. The rooms are all kept exceptionally clean. They provide laundry service, prescription pickups and transportation runs frequently via bus. Crafts, bingo and frequent ice cream socials are a part of the residents daily lives. The rooms are equipped with television and personal telephone hook ups. I would highly recommend the Laurels personal care home for anyone with a family member who needs assistance with daily living.
