Crimson Ridge is a senior living community located in a very quiet and peaceful area of Rochester. The community consists of Crimson Ridge Meadows which is an Assisted Living Facility and Crimson Ridge Gardens which is a Memory Care facility. The community is beautiful and secure - the residents are able to enjoy the perfectly landscaped grounds and crisp fresh air of Rochester while remaining safe and comfortable.
Crimson Ridge Meadows is a very home-like and inviting facility. The residents always seem so at ease and happy. They tell me all the time that they are the most comfortable here in this community than they believe they have ever been - even in their own homes before moving in to the community - they say that they think the reasoning behind this is that they don't have to worry about anything - everything is taken care of for them. They can trust that the staff members will meet their needs and that everything will remain in order because the staff are organized, professional, and they have proved to residents for so long now that they are reliable. The residents say they have NEVER feared that the community will not be there the next day because the staff is that responsible and accountable and they realize that this is home for the residents and that the residents need to live in a stable and consistent environment to really be comfortable within the community so they provide that type of stability and consistency to every resident day in and day out without fail. The residents say THAT is why they are more comfortable now than they've ever been. There are many amenities, services, activities, events, programs, and opportunities for the residents. They are so nurtured and accommodated and if there is something a resident needs that's not readily available on-campus than the staff will get it for them somehow, someway - they have come through time and time again - they act as a resident concierge and they are wonderful and resourceful and creative and finding and providing the residents with what they want. The community offers many spacious common areas that are loaded with different activities and services for the residents to take advantage of. They have a beauty salon/barber shop, housekeeping and domestic services, podiatry service (which not that many communities offer - most make their residents go off-campus for these services), and so much more. The assisted living apartments are very cute - the layout and design make them very spacious for their size and they offer quite a bit of storage which is a must - some of these residents are moving out of large homes that they have lived in for many years so they have quite a bit of stuff that they have to part with or store or figure out some other arrangement for - and since moving a 4-bedroom house in to a studio or 1-bedroom apartment is out of the question any storage that is offered is a welcome blessing. I see the storage offered in these apartments and am actually pretty impressed. The apartments also have cute little kitchenettes which can't obviously be used to make a 5-course meal but are great for preparing midnight snacks. There are also great security/fire systems in each apartment as well as individual thermostats - which is always a plus - It's impossible to find a temperature that pleases EVERYONE so it's always a good idea to find a community such as this which offers individual climate control. The assisted living facility is great - the residents seem to be VERY satisfied with their decision to live there.
Crimson Ridge Gardens is the memory care unit of the community and is designed, furnished, and equipped ideally for memory care residents. The facility is designed to look small, home-like, and intimate. It has a very easy-to-follow floor plan and it is easy for the residents to navigate and find their way from area to area and if they happen to become lost or frustrated or scared there are familiar land marks and visual aids scattered throughout the facility to help the resident recognize their location within the facility - and it works to. I've seen it work - a resident was walking throughout the facility - it is something that she likes to do everyday, she happened to lose her place and she became very scared and upset - a staff member seeing her scared approached her and knew right away what the problem was - that she had become lost. There was a picture or mosaic or collage on the wall that I guess the residents and staff members had made together, she asked the resident if she remembered that day - the resident calmed down and thought about it and then it clicked she started talking about the day they did it, who was there, etc. The staff member asked her if she knew how to get back to her room and it was like she had never became lost or upset in the first place - she looked at the staff member like she was crazy and said "of course I know how to get home, I live here after all!" The staff laughed and the resident was on her way. I have been in many memory care facilities but it was the first time that I had seen a visual aid trigger a memory and then lead to some result for the resident. Such as with this resident - the picture made her remember a special day which in turn made her forget she was lost - which made her realize where she was within the facility. This was a long time ago and I have seen visual aids work wonders for memory care residents many times since then - but I will always remember that. The staff members here, like the staff member from that day, are so skilled in working with the residents - they are very knowledgeable in dealing with the different memory disorders and they know how to interact and work with the residents. The residents here also seem to really trust the staff - which is not an easy feat in memory care as it is usually more difficult to gain the trust of memory care residents. However, these staff members have accomplished that and they are helping the residents progress in their programs every day in so many special ways. The residents also have activities, events, programs, therapies, and exercises available to them that are memory care appropriate - they are things that help stimulate the residents senses and they help the residents in many therapeutic and beneficial ways but they are also creative, exciting, and loads of fun at the same time. They work a lot with music, which has also been known to really help those with memory disorders. Families also are very involved in the facility and join in the activities and events quite often, I think it is comforting for both the residents and the family members. The memory care unit is a one that goes above and beyond to help the residents live as happy, comfortable, and as "normal" as a life as possible. The staff are always researching new methods, techniques, treatments, therapies, exercises, etc. that may benefit the residents in some way - they are always looking to better the community for the residents and that is what impresses me the most.
Crimson Ridge is really a community to proud of. It's a community whose sole focus is on ensuring that the residents are happy, comfortable, safe, and that they have EVERYTHING that they could every need to live as fulfilling a lifestyle as possible
