Emeritus at The Lakes

I was very impressed with Emeritus. I like the environment. If they had what we needed, I would have been interested with them. It has very clean and very pleasant surroundings. Everybody that I had contact with seemed very pleasant.

My parents like their friends, the food & their apartment. I think the staff turnover is high and the level of care system vague. Level of care dictates care plan but documentation of care plan in my experience is lacking especially to support the financials.

We visited Emeritus at The Lakes in Fort Myers, while searching for a suitable assisted living facility for my friend's mother. The outside resembled a nicely appointed motel.

The grounds looked well-kept and pleasant. The lovely patio had nice seating for seniors and their families to enjoy.

The staff greeted us and seemed very warm and friendly - which is one of the most important things to my friend's family. It was clear that they can handle different levels of ambulation and memory impairment.

The interior design was nicely ordered and easy to navigate. Each room had a fresh, light color scheme that made it appear quite spacious. There were nice views with lots of fresh air and light.

The communal areas all had interesting activities occurring, from reading to games and resident interactions. It was clear that the residents may easily enjoy living here.

The exercise center includes daily yoga and aerobics exercise classes. The equipment is available throughout the day and they also offer instruction on DVD. Residents can also safely navigate the lovely garden pathways each day, given the mild weather in Florida.

The private living spaces were all clean, well-kept and conveniently designed. They take the time to personalize to each resident's tastes.

The main dining room had a comfortable and spacious decor. The residents are offered healthy, home-style cooked meals in a casual restaurant setting.

The food looked and smelled delicious, as well as healthily prepared. The menus included many interesting dishes, as well as the usual American fare. Snacks are offered regularly throughout the day and whenever residents desire them.

The residents go on trips to visit the many recreational hubs such as art galleries and museums, eateries and other cultural events, festivals and fairs in the region.

Every resident appeared to be very well cared for in a peaceful, yet fun environment by kind, caring and attentive staff.
