I am a friend or relative of resident

When my mom needed to go to assisted living I was unprepared and did not do my research. Emeritus was affordable because they had semi-private rooms. After two years mom is now living elsewhere that is nice. Park Club by Emeritus is in a poor state of repair at all times. The grounds are dirty inside and out. The halls constantly smell of urine and full adult diapers. The administration is only concerned with covering their legal issues. The staff is the most uncaring group of people I have ever seen in a facility. I thought that everyplace was like Emeritus, but I found out few places are that bad. Do your research, visit the facility unannounced and just walk in. You will see chaos and pandemonium. Supervisors are unable to be found, nurse aides are sloppy and do not wear name tags (so you can't report them). I found medications in my mother's room that did not belong to her and were dangerous. This is a dementia unit folks! Residents walked around half naked, relieved themselves in the bushes and screamed in agony to no avail. It was more like a 1950's insane asylum than assisted living and memory care. I had been convionced by the staff that all facilities were the same. Don't believe that. I finally pulled mom out and found a nice place for her, but I am deeply sorry for those that remain in that horrible place.

I visited this facility

We were delighted to visit the Emeritus at Fort Myers while in the vicinity checking out assisted living facilities in the area for my friend's mother.

Our tour of the outside grounds was lovely; there were flowers and shrubs everywhere, with nice seating areas.

The staff was very friendly and all seemed to really like their jobs. The main living areas were fresh, clean and sunny with a contemporary, yet homey décor.

The variety of activities offered was impressive. Just about any hobby can be accommodated - and more. The staff goes out of its way to suggest stimulating things to do - from gardening, to reading, playing games and outings in the community and surrounding areas.

The lunch meal we saw looked while there looked really delicious. The menus looked very thoughtfully designed and we were impressed with the selections.

My friend's mother likes to exercise so will appreciate the classes and gym equipment options.

The rooms we viewed were all very clean, well-kept and inviting - kind of resembling what you might find at a hotel - but a bit more personalized.

The library had a large book selection, which my friend's mother would really appreciate.

This facility really looked like a place my friend's mother would like to live. Everything she would need seemed like it was right there, including kind and caring staff.
