Spruce Point Assisted Living

Spruce Point is an Assisted Living and Memory Care community in the pretty little coastal town of Florence Oregon. They also offer Respite Care services if needed. I have had the time to really get to know this community, the staff, and the residents and while there are a couple of things I would like to see done differently I think the community is just wonderful. The staff and the way they run the facility is very organized. They have individual care plans set up for each resident that was put together according to the residents own care preferences. They value and respect the wants and needs of each resident and they realize that every resident is different, an individual, and as such should be cared for as an individual. Believe me when I tell you that some of the residents here are very choosy about how they want their care and domestic needs met and I so admire how respectful and patient the staff members are of each residents wishes. They actually want the residents to speak up and be specific about the way they want things because then not only does the resident get their care/domestic needs met exactly the way they want them completed the first time but the staff members are better able to care for each resident if they know each resident's preferences before hand. They also are very good in keeping the care plans up to date and accurate.

The community is very pretty, there is a very warm and cozy feel to the place and the residents seem very comfortable within the community. The common rooms and areas are spacious and are full of items to keep the residents entertained whether it's watching movies and TV, reading books, playing games and puzzles, socializing with friends and family, arts and crafts, hobbies, or whatever else it may be - residents are able to be active as they like. There are also many scheduled activities and social events that take place throughout the community as well as many special outings that the residents have the option of joining in on. Last time I visited the residents had just returned from a day at the beach and they were wore out but they were so excited to tell every one about all of the fun they had and the shops they visited and the special things they did. They were like a bunch of schoolchildren thrilled about a field trip they went on. It was wonderful to see them so happy, they were so tired bless their hearts, but there were no naps to be had until they told people all about their day! It's not like they don't go on special outings all the time, and they live at the beach so they can visit it whenever - it has nothing to do with the trips they go on or where they go - what makes the residents this happy and excited is being able to do these special things together with their close friends. That is what makes the special outings so incredibly special for them. They could go to the dump and still act like they are in the most exciting place ever because that's how much they love being able to do things together outside of the community. They, obviously, have different activities, events, and outings for the Assisted Living residents and the Memory Care residents, but the opportunities are equally as exciting and creative and fun - they are just appropriate for each group of residents level of care required and their abilities. They do not do more for one care level than the other - they have the same amount of programs, opportunities, and options - they are just tailored accordingly to each care level. There are also some pretty great amenities and services available for the residents to choose from as well. With all of these great things available to them every day they are able to live very happy, convenient, and opportunistic lifestyles. Spruce Point is a wonderful community and well worth your time to visit. They have so much to offer, such high quality care to provide, such accommodating, helpful, and friendly service to offer each and every resident. Spruce Point is a respected senior living community in the Eugene/Springfield and I am sure will continue to be a successful community for many years to come.

They have some excellent care givers. Problems with administraters. Beautiful facility. Friendly. They could treat their employees better, good ones don't stay around to long. Close to hospital and dr. offices. Good food. This is the place I'd put my mom if I had to.!
