I am a friend or relative of resident

The community is very nice and pleasant the residents in inspirations are all engaged. When I was there, their was a Tai Chi class and the residents apppeared to be having a good time. My friends mother really like dogwood, she has made friends and is a member of the Busy Bee club. They do things for the community like at the hospital make blanets and pillows for the cancer center.

Dogwood Forest Assisted Living is like a home setting. It's only two floors to the entire building and they have a separate memory unit. They have their own cafeteria. It's a cozy and warm place. My aunt is sharing room with someone else. She has moderate stage of dementia, so they don't leave her in the room. Her room is enough for her needs, but they try to keep them out of their room and have small activities, games, and TV viewing. They watch them constantly.

When it's time for lunch they physically bring them to lunch and when they're finished they bring them back into the recreation area. They see that they're dressed properly even if they can dress themselves. They check and make sure they evaluate their actions and they do an assessment every three months on them. They try to get them to do as much as they can on their own. They call me at home if anything is wrong.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I visited my Grandmother in this facility over the course of a few months. She seemed to be taken care of very well. There were regular meals, with diabetic options available. There was regular physical therapy, which seemed to help the residents improve their interactions and physical dexterity. The staff was well trained to handle many kinds of emergencies. The hours for visiting were very welcoming. They stayed open for long hours, which helps the family come see residents when available. However, there was not enough interaction with the residents. They seemed to be sat in front of a TV and expected to entertain themselves. If you do not visit your resident they will not feel connected to their family. The key to helping someone recover in a nursing home is to provide human interaction. This is the factor that speeds recovery the fastest. My grandmother did very well after leaving this facility.
