I like the idea of the transitional care there at Ascot Park Senior Living. I think that's the part that my husband would fit into at this time. He would fit better in between memory care and assisted living, so I would have been very happy with that. They have separate cabins. They call them cabins but they are facilities for about 20 people in each area. Everything was first class. It was very nice. They have a large fenced area that was a garden area. They even have raised gardens for the residents where they could plant their own little garden. They take the residents on a scenic drive if they want to. They take them shopping and to events at no extra charge. I was very pleased with them. If we decide to move to Eugene, that's where we would go. The staff member who gave the tour was wonderful. My daughter attended with me, and the staff must have talked to us for an hour in her office. She's a former nurse, and she went over a lot of details about how they interact with their residents, and how we should interact with my husband to the care or the transition into assisted living. She was just a really thoughtful and informative person. The place was very clean, very pleasant, and well-maintained.

My mom was in Farmington Square Eugene for 5 years. I thought they were really good, and they took really good care of her. One of the first things I noticed when I went there, was that it was very clean the whole time she was there. There was never any of that smell. They don't have that smell because they clean properly and laundry is done often enough. They were really good. Part of the time she had to be bathed and dressed, and they were really on it. If I ever had anything that I was questioning or anything, they were very prompt in responding to it. One of the things I really liked about it is they had all sorts of activities for the people there, which was really nice. They even celebrated the holiday stuff. They had little events on the Fourth of July, on different holidays, or had midsummer Hawaiian things. They were really good about that. They have snacks in between meals because people are hungry, so they have sandwiches and things like that for people. It's not just like you get three square meals and that's it. They have a salon, and if necessary they can arrange to take people to the doctor. Once the pandemic's over, they will do things like take people on bus trips. They have different stages there, so people that don't have dementia can go out; they'd take them on shopping trips. They have their own little bus, and my mom, she loved it. They would take them on little drives around the county. Some people say that the food isn't like gourmet food, but these are people with dementia that want to eat the stuff that they're used to from their time frame of living. They want sandwiches, burgers, soup, and salad. It's not fancy, but it's what they want. They want stuff they can identify.

My wife is a resident of Farmington Square Eugene. The thing I'm most concerned about is that so many of their residents are in wheelchairs. They can't move around much and they don't talk much. My wife still talks and likes to talk so she feels that the place doesn't fit her. I found the staff to be helpful, and she likes them. She claims she doesn't like the food very much, and that they're always cutting up things. But I can understand because seeing the other residents, the community is just trying to make the food easier to chew. They have a variety of things you can do, like entertainers and pianists who come in and play for the residents, they toss balloons for exercise, and so on. They have a big room for activities, and they go outside in the indoor court, and they can sit on a bench or whatever. If you have a relative with the condition that many of the residents here have, you'd be happy that the staff watches them well. They wheel them around in their wheelchairs since some of the residents can't do that by themselves. It's currently costing me about $5,800 a month, my wife has her medications, and she has her hair done, which is paid for separately.

My mother in law needed a place to go to very quickly and Farmington did a great job to get her in and evaluated. She was put into the correct level of care. Jill and her staff are wonderful and very caring. They always take the time to greet you and acknowledge your family member. The buildings are secure, clean and there is plenty of room to gather with your family.

We needed a place right away, and Farmington Square had an opening. It is clean. I am not thrilled with it, but it is OK. The activities are very limited. They have bingo, bus rides once in a while, and some movies. The staff is fine.

Farmington Square was smaller than most of the places that we saw. The residents were having a meal when we came in. The tour guide was very helpful. It felt more personal and quaint in its layout. There was a piano and barbeque outside. They were having a painting class when we were there, and it looked like fun. It had some neat things going on.
