Churchill Estates Retirement Community was spread out a little bit more, and they had green areas. I just have a specific objection to the fact that dining was mandatory, and you have to pay for it. It almost doubled the cost. The staff was very knowledgeable. They gave me a tour of the whole facility. They only had the 1-bedroom available, but they didn't have a studio. The 1-bedroom apartment had a kitchenette and was nicely redone.

We went to Churchill Estates Retirement Community. It is very nice. It is a new facility. Everything was new. We went to the old section, and it was all right, too. It's a nice clean facility. The person who gave me the tour was a little pushy, but it was fine. The rooms were nice and brand new. They had different sizes. Everything was nice. We didn't see any activities, but they described they have a lot of them.

We went to Churchill Estates Retirement Community for my mother, and we liked it very much. But after getting the updated prices under their new management and looking at some of the various things that they offer, I think she's pretty much decided to go to another community. It's a well-maintained facility. They are also doing some upgrading, so some of the older buildings and older parts are being upgraded. The staff are very nice. Overall, it is a nice place. The staff was very helpful and very personable. We enjoyed talking with her. The first time we went, they were under new management, so she didn't have enough information to give us to make a decision. But then we went back again, and she was able to give us the information. We enjoyed getting to know her. The food is good, plain food. They seem to have a nice variety on their menu. We enjoyed the lunch very much. It's good but it's nothing fancy. The place is very clean.

8000 dollars for 12 days. No mercy on the bill. No mercy would be a better name for these vulchers.

I visited Churchill Estates Retirement Community. We didn't get to see too much of their outdoor spaces because they closed off a lot of it so that people wouldn't come and go randomly. They are in the process of upgrading a lot of their rooms (they upgrade them as the residents move out), and the upgrades were very nice. They're more into the residents with wheelchairs, as far as their bathrooms and such are concerned, which is fine. There's no problem with that at all. They were going to be in the process of upgrading their actual facilities, too, as far as their dining hall and their activity rooms, and so on. The staff was very nice, also.

There was so much going at Churchill Estates. The staff was pleasant, and for the most part was accommodating. The apartments were okay, but they did not fit our needs. The vegetables were overcooked, there was a really small piece of meat for the main meal of the day, and they were not accommodating as the other facilities. The staff was a bit distracted. The facility is older, not as appealing as the others, but clean.

Churchill Estates is the most reasonably-priced place among all those that I've visited. My friend who lives there has an enormous apartment, which costs a thousand dollars less than the other community I saw. It was a 1-bedroom apartment with a living room, bedroom, a small kitchen, and another room where she does her sewing. There's just lots of space. It's a pretty old utility and the big advantage to it is if you get to a point where you need more care, they have another unit that you can move to. They provide three meals a day, but they have a rigid meal schedule. They won't take my dog.

The facilities at Churchill Estates were very outdated and very dreary in appearance. They needed to schedule an upgrade desperately on the facilities. They had a musical presentation going on when we went there.

The staff member from Churchill Estates was pleasant and nice, but he wasn't informative. He gave us a very brief tour. They didn't have a library nor functions going on at that time. The community was very dry and didn't have a comfortable feeling. It looked old and not well taken care of. It didn't feel clean and welcoming. They need to update and have it more modern. It definitely needs some tender love and care.

The Churchill Estates is right around the corner from where I live now. I just walked down there to take a look, and it met every expectation I had on my list. The location is perfect and the transportation system is perfect. It has five dining rooms and is basically two floors high, but the units are adjacent to each other and have small decks. There are one-bedrooms, two-bedrooms, and no bedroom, and they have a kitchenette, so there are a lot of choices. Mine overlooks a little courtyard with trees, which is very nice. The kitchenette has a refrigerator, a counter, and a sink. There are a lot of people there; maybe 200 in the whole place. It has all kinds of organized activities, and the price is right. Three meals a day are provided, and they encourage people come eat for social reasons as well as for eating food. In fact, I was informed that people who decide they are just going to stay in their rooms and eat their meals there are charged $6 a meal just to get them out where they can talk to people, which is necessary. People whose dementia has really set in are in another section. It is divided into three sections. I'm in the independent living. It is very professional. I don’t have a lot to compare it with, but my experience so far has been very good.

Churchill Estates Retirement Community is OK, but it is an older, and it has much more of a nursing home type of feel. The rooms are a little small, but they can accommodate wheelchairs although its a little cramped. The staff seems very competent and receptive to the needs of their residents, and very friendly. I suggest they make the place more like a home rather than a hospital-type. It has that clinical feel to it, so it doesn't feel quite as comfortable. They take the residents to little excursions on the coast and to other places.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved into Churchill Estates Retirement Community about one month ago. The staff is very good, very kind, and polite. They have numerous outings, Wii bowling, bingo, poker and other games, movie nights, exercise bicycles, and a pool table. Overall, the food is pretty good and try to give balanced meals. It is fairly healthy, but I would like to see a little bit more variety. Overall, they do pretty well. One of the reasons I came here was because, for the same price, all the other places I looked at only gave a studio, and with Churchill Estates, for the same price, I have a large one-bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, and a full bathroom with a balcony. The common area is nice. They keep it clean and comfortable. Churchill Estates is a little more relaxed than all of the other facilities I saw.

We visited Churchill Estates. We loved the assisted living part. It was wonderful. They had really good and informative staff. I loved that they had a huge communal area in there, and their dining room was wonderful and huge. It was nice to see that people dressed for dinner. They were socializing people, and they were not isolated. They had apartments, and they were lovely. The gardens weren't as wonderful as where my aunt was, but they do have nice grounds there. They had greens, patios, and areas to socialize. We wouldn't have any problem, if she could have been in the assisted living. However, because of her issues, she has to have 24-hour care, and we didn’t care for the memory care. It was way too institutional for my aunt's needs.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My sister lives at Churchill. The apartments were really good and the facility is very clean. I took part on some of the activities there. One of the most wonderful things they had was the band from the high school, they come over and they play 50s songs. The people really love it. The biggest complaint I had against them was that they lock the doors too early.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The staff was nice and very helpful towards both residents and visiting family. They had a full dining hall with meals cooked almost restaurant style the menu wasn't super variable but that is understandable considering the amount of people that were being fed. There was a library with many genres of books with computer access as well. It's situated on the side of the hill adjacent to the high school. The facility setup trips for residents to take them grocery shopping or just to visit parks and everything in between. There was often visits from the high school music department where they would play music for the residents which I grandmother really enjoyed. The staff there was very medically knowledgeable and treated the residents with the utmost care and respect as they should be. The rooms were studio style apartments with 1 full bathroom. It also had a mini kitchen with fridge so if the residents chose to eat at home and didn't feel like they wanted to go to the dining hall they didn't have too. Overall I have to say that this was an excellent facility that my Grandmother enjoyed as did the rest of our family.
