Pacifica Hillsborough

One of the first things that struck me about Pacifica more so than some of the other homes I visited was it's vibrancy- not only in the fact that there was a lot more light filtering in to the place (a few places had very dank and dark memory wards), but the staff were much more outgoing as well. I felt comfortable going there and talking with the staff and hearing how things were going. The staff were approachable and ready to lend a hand if ever one was needed. They also did everything with a smile, which I really have to give them credit for because I certainly wouldn't be able to with the way some of the more ornery residents can get at times.

Very caring staff. Provides both inside and outside activities for those at a higher level. My mom went to a small zoo, casino, lunches. Highly respect this Memory and Assisted Care facility. I highly recommend this company. The only reason I gave it one less star is the living arraignment setup. Mixing lower functioning people with higher functioning creates problems. Especially when mixing males and females in the same living unit.

I WAS ENGAGED IN A FACT FINDING IN WHICH I WAS INVESTIGATING THE TREATMENT OF THE ELDERLY AT RETIREMENT HOMES. I HAPPENED TO COME UPON THIS PARTICULAR FACILITY THROUGH AN OLD ASSOCIATE FROM MY UNIVERSITY. I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND OUT THAT THIS PARTICULAR FACILITY WAS ONE OF THE BEST IN MY AREA. I WAS ABLE TO INTERACT WITH THE TENANTS. THE STAFF WERE PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS. THE AMENITIES WERE SOMETHING LEFT TO BE DESIRED, BUT THE HOUSING FACILITIES WERE STATE OF THE ART AND TOP NOTCH. I WANT VERY FOND OF THE LOCATION, ONLY BECAUSE IT IS RIGHT NEXT TO A BUSY EXPRESSWAY, AND I GET THE FEELING IT MAY NOT BE GOOD AIR QUALITY FOR THE ELDERLY. OVERALL HAVING VISITED THIS PLACE I MUST SAY THAT IT HAD EXCEEDED ALL MY EXPECTATIONS AS TO HOW A FACILITY OF THIS NATURE OPERATES. UNFORTUNATELY I CANNOT SAY THAT FOR MANY OF THE OTHER FACILITIES IN MY AREA I VISITED.

This is a lovely Senior Assisted living community that is beautifully decorated. It reminded me of a place in No. Cal my Grandmother lived in until she was 90. They have a full calender of activities which was evident when I arrived. This was a hub of activity. There was a painting class in session and a bus just arriving back with residents from a shopping outing. The lobby was clean and they have lovely seating areas for lounging. There is a library with a fireplace very cozy. The dining hall is a Bistro environment very nice indeed. The residents were bright and alert and staff were friendly and very helpful. They offer assistance with all matters needed and if they can not they will help bring in outside help for whatever is needed. Customer Service of the staff was top notch. I am no longer afraid of aging. I would place my loved on here. One thing I do know is that some of the elective services can add up so be careful not to assume extra curricular activities are not included. They will cost extra such as a outing to the movies or dinner etc. Just keep that in mind when your doing your research.

My grandma lived at The Gardens for about 5 years. The common areas are always clean and the staff at the front desk knew us by name. The variety and amount of activities was above our expectations and my grandma enjoyed many of them including watercolor painting, bingo, and even wii. We even attended a luau that gave prizes for the best dressed resident and had hula lessons. The apartments were nicely sized. My low rating is due to the cost per month and the additional costs for services that should be provided with "assisted living" including laundry and helping with showers. Additional costs kept popping up each month and explanations were never very thorough. My grandma no longer resides there as she required more care than they were able to provide.
