I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My wife had a couple of accidents at The Country Village where she's gotten injured. There's one where she broke her ankle in three places, so I'm a little bit soured on that. My wife was there for about eight years. They had a main living room. They were equipped with lazy boy-type chairs, which the other place did not have. But they had very small rooms. The kitchen was good. The dining room was good. I didn't have any complaints about the food. The food was good. They took care of her medication well. I think the room was small for the price. Sometimes I questioned their care as far as handling the patients because they allowed her to fall twice and get herself injured badly. My wife got a shared room, and then back to a private room. The last room she moved into was fairly big enough to put a single bed in and a little stand-up closet for clothes and that was it. They had nice activities there. They had a gal that came in maybe twice a week. She played guitar and the people sang with her, and it was entertaining. They had a TV in the living room. They had activities, but my wife was not able to participate in them.

I visited this facility

The Country Village is where I'm going to go live when I'm 100. It's a home, but much bigger than the other place I looked at. I think they have 18 residents in the assisted living and then a separate area for memory care. It's a sprawling home. When I first walked in, I thought this place is as cluttered as my house and they've got books and stuff all over. I think it was a Saturday and it looked like they were having a party and there were old people in the living room and some guy playing guitar and it just looked delightful. The other thing I liked about that is you get your own bathroom in your room. I think that was a good thing. None of the other places had that. They also have lovely outdoor areas, garden space, and patios, and places where families can come and meet whoever is staying there. I liked that, too. They were really busy when I got there because of this music entertainment, so I only met one man who I think was the director. He showed me around and he was wonderful. The rooms were bigger than any other place that I looked at. They're nice rooms with windows and just very comforting.

I visited this facility

My sister will be moving into The Country House. I like it. It's a good place and it's clean. They had lots to do, they had gardens and a yard, and the grounds were beautiful. The people were very warm, and it's very homey. She will be in assisted living. The staff members were very forthcoming. I saw them in action with the residents. They're very helpful and they seemed concerned and sincere about the care that they give them. They're warm and gentle, and they seemed very patient. I was there when they were eating, but I didn't have lunch there. I can go and have lunch there any time, but the food looked and smelled good. Everybody looked to be eating contentedly. The rooms were very nice. They had a bed and some very nice furniture you could use, or you could bring your own. They were very clean, well lit, good sized, and very nice. They have physical therapy, arts, outings where they take the clients out for lunch, games, and music. There's no shortage of activities there. The staff was very open and very forthcoming. They seemed dedicated to making the place what it is. I have nothing ill to say about them. She's not living there yet, but she actually picked it. It was just a pleasant surprise to find it because it was so warm. It had a very good feel to it. My sister is looking forward to it, which I didn't expect.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My Mother has been a guest a Country Commons for almost two years. She has thrived in the environment and is cared for by the most compassionate staff I have ever encountered. She and I are treated like we are family and I am welcome to visit any time day or night. If I am there at meal times I am always invited to stay and eat with her and the meals are always great. The facility is well cared for and the secure backyard is very relaxing. There are many activities where family and friends are invited to attend. If you have to make the very hard decision to place your loved one this is the place to go.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I visited my Grandmother at Country Commons, the Alzheimer's section of Country Village, many times during her stay. She was in the late stages of Alzheimer's and needed consistent care that we could not provide at home. The facilities were the nicest I have seen at any nursing home, providing and upscale, clean and calm home setting for it's residents. The staff genuinely cares for it's residents, and many of the people who worked there remained friends of the family after my grandmother passed away. They have activities, provide meals, and care tenderly for the residents on a daily basis. We would often go and have family dinners there with my grandma, and the staff would set up a special room so that we weren't dining with any of the other residents if we liked. The furniture is kept up very nicely, and the facility does smell funny like most other places.
