I visited this facility

I was going to put my mother in Mint Hill Senior Living because it was the best among the three places I saw. But I was still not impressed with it. I thought that it was neat and at a distance it looked very nice, but when I got closer it looked very unkempt on the outside, and the bushes and grass needed to be trimmed. They have very nice landscaping, but it's not kept up. When I walked in it looked very neat and clean, but upon further inspection you could tell that the cushions and stairs were dirty. I smelled an odor when I walked in the memory care unit and they were spraying. The rooms in the memory care section were nice, and they have built in shelves. It's owned by CMC, which is our big hospital here, and being that they're such a big group they should come in and send people over to do some major work. I was impressed with the rooms, they were big and roomy. The woman that I talked to was very nice, I just didn't get a good feeling about the place.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I have a love one at Lawyers Glen and made the biggest mistake to ever take them. I should have known on the first day I met that Jessica with a bad nasty attitude things were going to be rocky . My mother is too old to be transferd from here to there and all they want is money for not too much of nothing other than a nice front space. As another person said I see no programs to keep a person healthy that is able to walk and all I see is eating and then sleeping. I hate this place as well as most of the people.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I have a family member who has been living here for 2+ years and their newest Director Jessica has never spoke to me or my family. I've walked by her office several times and not once has she acknowledged me or my brother. The previous Director was wonderful and ensured she met with all the families. Since Meridian has taken over, this company has went down hill. If affordability wasn't a concern, I would take my father out of here. DO NOT SEND SOMEONE YOU LOVE HERE esp if you are unable to monitor them frequently.

Lawyers Glen is the third place I visited. Of course availability was the main thing because there'd be no point if you like the place but and there is no room available. I really felt comfortable speaking to the director. He is very professional and seemed like a very caring person to me. To me, that is important mainly because in the past, my mother had been in a nursing home where I didn't feel the director had that kind of that caring mode. Maybe he did, but I didn't feel it. I can tell that this community opened in the 90's from some of the décor. But to me, that was not as important as what I felt my friend would be getting in terms of help in this particular community. He is in the assisted living which is located within the independent living area. I don't think they have a swimming pool, but I'm sure they have a place for rehab. I've not have any problems with the place. As far as I know, he is doing well. There is no perfect place when it comes to caring, but he says he is OK, and I'm fine with that.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We placed my mom in November at Lawyer's Glen Retirement Living Center. We chose it for several things. Number one, it is a private facility, there is not a lot of people, it is privately owned, it is two minutes from my house, and the cost is less than half as when she was at a different facility before. Also, I had a caregiver that used to take care of my mom at our house who has worked there, and most of the staff were really good people. They took good care of the residents. There are just a couple little things that I don't like.

I visited this facility

Lawyer's Glen Retirement Living Center was very expensive, and all they took was insurance or out of pocket. It was all top of the line. The rooms were wonderful and probably a hundred percent as far as sanitation was concerned. Most of the rooms were private and very, very nice. I just couldn't afford them.

Lawyers Glen didn’t impress me. Most of the people there are in wheel chairs, and at that time, mom was mobile and I want her to be around more active people. It came across more like a nursing home than an assisted living. I also thought they were understaffed, but it seemed fairly clean. The rooms were smaller and you had to share bathrooms.

Other

My friend's parent was a resident of this facility. The resident got a skin breakdown while living here as a result of poor care. Staff seemed unconcerned about the discomfort of the resident. Administrative staff was rude to family member who notified them about shin breakdown.

I visited this facility

From mid-2009 until late 2010, I volunteered weekly at Lawyer's Glen. I often helped take residents to and from various activities throughout the facility, and spent time with residents on the dementia wing. Throughout my time there, all of the residents were taken care of, well food, and generally happy, or at least as happy as could be given the circumstances. The facility certainly seemed up to snuff compared to a few others I have volunteered at since. The one problem I had with Lawyer's Glen, however, is a problem with any sort of nursing/assisted living home. The dementia wing, while locked off for resident protection, is a lonely hall not unlike something you might find in an asylum. While there would always be several nurses buzzing about when I was there, most of the residents were left to themselves. I feel those are the people who need company the most.
