I visited this facility
The facility is well maintained and absolutely beautiful. It is more like a family home than a "nursing home". The facility did not look too big from the outside, but once inside you see how well it was designed. It is very roomy. The resident rooms were quite a decent size. The staff were all friendly and seemed really care about the residents there. The interaction between the staff and residents was very nice to see. Everyone had a smile on their face. While I visited there were activities going on, and they had a quartet performing. I believe they have daily bingo games as well. There were two dogs that lived there, which I absolutely loved to see. However, if someone is allergic or afraid of dogs, this is probably not a good place for them. Overall this facility is at the top of our list if we should need additional services for my mother in law.
I visited this facility
I visited Sunrise of Chandler for the first time last week and from the moment I pulled in the parking lot I really liked the look of the building, it is a very beautiful building and the grounds are perfectly landscaped. When I walked through the doors I felt a very welcoming vibe. The inside of the facility is very open and airy and bright. There were residents all over the common rooms relaxing and socializing, reading and playing games, etc. which I love to see when I walk into a facility because I know that by seeing the residents out and about that it means they feel comfortable within their surroundings and I love to get that impression from them. I was there for about one hour when lunchtime was announced. I noticed that the staff took great care in making sure everyone made it to the dining hall and also ensuring that food was served to those residents who chose to dine in their rooms. The food looked and smelled wonderful, I was sitting at a table with a group of residents, and one lady told me that she loves sitting in the one of the common areas that is nearby the kitchen before meal times, because the smell of home-cooking fills the area and it really reminds her of home growing up as a child. Everyone at the table agreed that the food was superb and that they have the greatest chef in the world. The one thing I witnessed that bothered me very much is that one of the men at the table asked a staff member for a second helping of food and she told him that he had already eaten enough! The residents are grown adults and they know if they have had enough to eat and if they want seconds or thirds or fourths then they should certainly have the option! I ended up getting the man more food and I could tell he was a bit embarrassed by the situation. I certainly hope that this was an isolated incident and not a regular happening. It is good for the residents to eat as it keeps them energized and healthy, and as long as they have the appetite, let them eat. Overall, aside from the meal incident, I was completely satisfied with Sunrise of Chandler and believe that it would make a lovely home.
