Clark Manor House is a wonderful Adult Home in a great Canandaigua location. The house is absolutely gorgeous - it's elegant and so charming, but at the same time has such a warmth and homey vibe about it. It reminds me of a location you would see as like a "Better Homes and Garden's" (Magazine) photo op. Every time I am there I watch the residents in their environment and they are ALL so at peace and comfortable and happy within it and the people who make up the care team are 100% dedicated to ensuring that the residents ALWAYS feel that way.
My favorite part of the home is this beautiful solarium (Also known as a Florida or Arizona Room) that is attached, it is so relaxing and bright and cheerful. There is very cozy furniture out there so the residents who don't feel like actually being outdoors can sit there and remain in the solarium surrounded by comfort and warmth, but still enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. It's the next best thing to actually being outdoors. I always see residents out there socializing, reading, or just enjoying the views of the beautiful outdoor surroundings. There are also many things for the residents to do if they do want to be outside, the home sits on a few acres and is sprinkled with sitting areas, scenic walking paths, gorgeous views of the surrounding community, full gardens that the resident green thumbs can enjoy, lush trees and grass and shrubbery, and so much more. When the weather is nice, the residents also do many outdoor and group activities outside.
The interior is laid out and furnished in a very sophisticated and classy way but the atmosphere still feels very laid-back and fun, usually when I am in a facility that is decorated in such an upscale manner I feel stressed and worried that I will break something and there is usually this dark cloud hovering over the personality of the facility because the residents usually feel the same way. But it's different here, and not that I would but, it feels like you could be playful and silly and dance around freely and never feel like the world will end if something gets out of order. There is a beautiful and spacious living room that families and residents use for socializing and spending time together as well as for social events and some activities. The dining room is beautiful, there is a long castle-style table that the residents all sit around to eat but it's not SO long that they can't enjoy the time socializing, they don't have to yell for someone at the other end to hear them.
The entire home is lovely, and the staff are absolutely wonderful and very loving with the residents. They really want to accommodate the residents needs and wishes and besides the services that are offered to the residents regularly such as Salon/Barber Services, Laundry/Housekeeping Services, etc. the staff will also do everything they can to help the residents needing or wanting specific services outside of the home.
The residents have a lot of fun together, the Activity Director is a wonderful lady and is always coming up with creative and exciting activities and events for the residents to enjoy. The residents also have the option of going on regular group outings to special places around the community. They are also, as a home, very involved in happenings around the Canandaigua community, they like to help out wherever needed and they LOVE to be a part of such a wonderful home and community. Out of all of the family members and residents I have ever talked to, I have always only been told amazing things about the home, the staff, the lifestyle, etc. What family members tell me most often is how thankful they are to have the peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are cared for, protected, and loved in a way that they could not do better themselves.
I hope that those looking for a senior community will also check out Clark Manor House, it's not a huge community, but I think I think it's a wonderful size - the number of residents make it so everyone here is a "family" and not just strangers living under the same roof. They are a family here and that is one of the things I like the most about Clark Manor.
My loved one stayed here
You can not pay people to care. Clark Manor House has provided my mother a beautiful home, surrounded by people who truly love ,care, honor and respect her. Debra Woodruff and her staff are truly wonderful people.
