I visited this facility
Beautifully manicured grounds. The ocean views are spectacular. A very clean facility. Some of the staff is lacking. They appear fake and condescending. I was not overly impressed with the facilities management.it was obvious they were only after my money. The activities director was a joy and her classes were engaging to all the participants...I was pleased that it is a secure facility. A bit isolated but that's partly what makes it attractive. One thing that was a huge concern was urine smell of some residents. But it appears to be limited to a certain caregiver on duty that day. She was not clean herself. That was the reason I will not be having my mom move there.

The facility is taken care of properly, and is very clean. The residents are given spacious apartments that will suit their own individual needs; there are cottages for the more able residents, large apartments for the minimal assistance residents, and smaller apartments on the first floor for the residents who need the most assistance. The facility provides balanced, nutritious meals for the residents, and they make sure that they get what they need to stay nourished. The staff also puts on many activities for the residents to keep them interested. However, I have witnessed some of the staff ignoring residents with dementia/Alzheimer that are confused and need help, simply because the staff member is annoyed that they repeatedly ask for help; this is very wrong. Another staff member uses the facilities resources (for example: laundry soap, food, office materials, etc.) for her own personal needs without paying; I also have witnessed her slacking and avoiding work. These particular staff members didn't seem to be contributing to the well-being of the facility or the residents. Otherwise, I heard that Parker Ridge can be a little expensive to stay at. Overall, Parker Ridge is a decent place for residents to reside.

As far as I could tell, the staff was all very kind--they always treated both the residents and their guests with the utmost respect and were both professional and friendly. Parker Ridge has events every day, from movies to shuttles to see concerts to guest speakers, so there was always something to do (which I think is very important for the elderly). There was also a pool table, several communal TVs, and many other rooms for activities (bridge, etc.) The whole facility was very clean and very well kept, and the rooms were very spacious. The food was fantastic--every meal was very well prepared, almost comparable to a very high-tier restaurant. The only problem with the facility, if you can call it that, is that there is a very long waitlist--apparently several years. However, if you can get in, it seems like it would be a great place to live. I would highly recommend Parker Ridge.
