I visited this facility

The second choice for us is Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale. It is close to dialysis. They provide transportation, and it seems easy to transfer your doctor's care to their doctors. The staff who toured me was very friendly. She was helpful. She answered all of our questions and concerns. When we left there, we felt good about the place. They provide the amenities that we need, like laundry, meals, clean-up, and transportation. There are doctors there. There are nurses there, and they have a place for the residents to ride a stationary bike or walk on the treadmill.

I visited this facility

My mom liked Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale. The rooms were bigger and she liked the location because she was raised around the area, so she feels more comfortable there. We visited their assisted living. It was very homey and clean, and we liked the size of the rooms. The person who assisted us was very, very informative. Her name was Christina, and she's really good. The dining area looked very good, it was clean, and the menu seemed fine. The place is near other shopping areas and they have a bus that would take the people to various places so we like that. I don't know exactly where they would take them, but they said they had a bus that would take people places. You can also drive and have a car if you want to.

I am/was a resident of this facility

What is Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale? (Part 2) October 19, 2020 It’s a supportive living community located at 285 East Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale, IL 60108. There have been some changes at this location. Sylvia has replaced Kristina at the front desk. Nothing has changed regarding the warm and smiling face greeting you with “Hi, may I help you?” as you enter the building. We lost Sandy, Jackie and Ron. Sandy was replaced by Kristina who is the Director of Sales and Marketing. Jackie was replaced by Miguel, now the Executive Chef. Ron was replaced by Adam as the Maintenance Director. As many other senior communities are experiencing COVID-19 cases, we at Aldens have been blessed, as of this writing, with none of our residents and staff getting the virus. We have a really great Executive Director, Gigi, who is following orders from the State of Illinois and Aldens, to keep us healthy and well. She keeps the staff up to date with all the rules and changes regarding this ups and downs about this terrible virus. Denise is always willing to take the time and help the residents with financial problems. Amy is the Director of Nursing and has three RNs on her staff. The CNAs are always helping us in and about the building, lunchroom, and apartment. It has been good to have Dr. Hasan back on location. Many of us have a need to have our feet taken care of, and Dr. Pastore does that every two months. Miguel heads up the lunchroom staff. As of this date, we are now back to having all three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) in the dining room. Kelly handles the activities, which keeps her going all day. Adam heads up the maintenance. When you have a problem in your apartment, fill out a work order form at the front desk. He will get to it as soon as possible. As soon as its all clear to go back to normal ways, it will be good to have nurse Kim and her therapists back. The same is true of the beauty shop. Again, these are a few of the remarkable things that make us enjoy our stay at Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale. Thank you

I visited this facility

Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale has an assisted living building and then right next door they have their nursing home, so if for some reason you need skilled nursing care, you can go right next door. I didn't see too much of the nursing home facility, but what I saw was very nice. The assisted living facility was fabulous. The director and all the staff knew everybody's name. They were interacting with the residents. The residents seemed very happy there. They had a calendar of events. Their apartments were a little smaller than the others, but they're very nice. The facility was very nice, very clean, and very organized.

What is Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale? It is located at 285 East Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale, IL 60108. When you first enter the building, there is a smiling face greeting you, Kristina: “Hi, may I help you?” She will steer you to Sandy, Denise or Gigi to help you. These individuals are very knowledgeable about this location. This five-story building is very clean. When walking the hall, you will see railings on both sides, in order to help us stay up. They really help. Ron heads up the maintenance department. Just remember to fill out a work order form at the front desk and he will always get to you to help you with your problems. The nursing staff consists of four outstanding RNs under the guidance of Amy. They are there when we fall in the hall, in the lunchroom or apartment. They also answer questions we may have about our medications. All of the CNAs are great with helping with walkers, wheel chairs and giving our medications. Some of us need assistance with personal grooming, bathing and dressing. There is also Home Health Agency located on the first floor. Nurse Kim and two therapists, one physical and occupational, have helped many residents with their rehab. Jackie heads up the lunchroom staff. The menus show good planning. We have so much to choose from for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There re no assigned seats and most of the residents are very courteous. Kelly has her hands full for heading up the activities. Just think: how would you like to try keeping close to ninety (90) residents busy, enjoying the days when it’s raining or snowing outside? She does a wonderful job with her staff. We have snacks for the residents that can be picked up at the front desk. Plus, there is a hospitality cart every Friday that goes to every floor. A beauty shop is located on the first floor and is for both men and women. You can check for time scheduled at the front desk. The trash room has bins for recyclable items and to throw the trash down the shoot. We have laundry rooms on the 2nd through 5th floors. These are a few of the remarkable thing that make us enjoy our stay at Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale.

My mom loved living at Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale for the past four years. She was able to still have her independence, but there was always help there when she needed it. It gave all of us her family such peace of mind knowing she wasn't alone. The staff there was wonderful. They were very warm and patient with the elderly residents. The building was always clean and welcoming. The dining room always had such a nice variety of meals. There was always something going on if the residents wanted to join in. It allows them to be able to still interact with others instead of sitting alone. Aging is a difficult thing for all of us, but to know there are people who care is so wonderful. They do a great job at Alden Gardens.

We moved Mom into Alden Gardens the week it opened (6 years ago) and have been thrilled with every aspect. The staff are amazing and it is a joy to see the positive relationships between staff/staff and staff/residents. Mom constantly tells us she doesn't have a care in the world ... A lovely home, good food, attentive & caring nursing staff, quick maintenance if needed, conscientious housekeepers, and everyone is so kind & respectful to her. If I have questions regarding her care, the staff is quick to respond to me and help as needed. Dad lived in the nursing home (also an Alden property) right next door. It was a perfect solution because Mom could walk over to see him each day. During the winter months, the Alden Gardens staff even escorted her next door to make sure she got there safely. We have been so grateful for the many, many ways the Alden Gardens staff have gone out of their way to care for our family's needs and help my parents make the best of a difficult situation as they were forced to live separately due to Dad's health problems. I feel blessed that we were able to find such a wonderful home for my parents.

My grandmother was at Alden Gardens for about four or five months and the place was phenomenal. It was a new construction and very clean. The assisted living facility was really good. They have CNAs that came around and they do well-being checks a couple of times a day. They would help with laundry. It was basically set up like a studio apartment or a one-bedroom apartment with a bath, a bedroom and a kitchenette type thing with a refrigerator. You could have a toaster or microwave there. I believed they also had one and two bedroom apartments. It was really nice. There was a dining room downstairs. At that time, she was very active. They had exercise classes and art classes. They had a library. It has a secure entrance where you had to be buzzed in. It was actually locked down for residents' safety after a certain time at night. It was a really nice facility.

After living at another facility for two years, I moved into the Gardens. What a difference. Much more attractive, pleasant, and well maintained. My sugar readings have gone down, and for the first time in years, my sugar levels are always in normal range. This is due mainly to the balanced nutritious meals served in the dining room. There are always enough choices for me to make a wise healthy choice. My studio apartment is spacious and very comfortable. And compared to other facilities, the price is right!

Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale was bright, clean and really pretty. The residents who lived there did not look like they were on assisted living because they were healthier and well put-up.

My mother currently resides there. Most of the staff is superb. The director who is currently Mr. Anderson is a bully who scares the residents into doing what he wants them to do "and if you don't like it leave" is what he tells residents and family members who complain. Go some where else, anywhere else until the director this director is removed. Talk to Glen Oaks hospital and Bloomingdale police department they know him all to well. The Alden Network will do nothing! We have complained by phone, letters and with the state and they won't even take a meeting with us, they send all complaints back to Mr. Anderson to deal with.

My sister moved from a horrible dirty dingy litttle apartment to a lovely airy spacious studio, with private washroom/shower. Refrigerator and microwave if she feels like eating in her studio. Otherwise the meals in the DR are generally very nice, great selection and variety. Some people complain, but some complain about everything anyway. They are cooking for a very large crowd, and I think they do a pretty darned good job. The facility is very clean. There are numerous rooms/areas where people can sit and read to be alone, or gather with others to converse or play games.

I think that the place is way under staffed. There is never enough people to take care of the residents. I feel that every time I go there that the staff is lazy and work very slow. No one seems to care about the well being of the residents. The dr's dont care about the residents either. Ordering meds for my family member when they have never even met my family member?

My grandmother lived here for ten months, and I honestly wish she could have been there for much longer. The building is new (constructed two years ago) and really clean. The first floor is the heart of the building, with the dining room, library, and activity rooms. Family can join residents for meals for $5 a person. The food is hit-or-miss (usually miss), but it is nice to be able to sit down over a meal. The CNAs and staff are quite friendly. They are good about administering medicines when requested, and just helping out as needed. Unfortunately, my grandmother has dementia and thought they were ordering her around and spying on her. The dementia is also why my grandmother is no longer in assisted living. There does seem to be a lack of communication between the assisted living facility and the nursing home next door. In our case, we received a number of conflicting messages that frustrated us. I would recommend (especially if you have POA) communicating by e-mail, especially with the administration. I'm not blaming the administrators, but I think things could have been clearer along the way.
