Landmark at Oceanview is an assisted living facility located in Beverly, MA. Beverly is a town in the northshore are of Boston that has an above average safety rating. I visited this facility last year to check on a senior resident. The Landmark is a big brick building located in downtown area of Beverly. Shops, churches, library, restaurants and movie theatre are located 5 to 10 minutes from the facility. Senior residents’ apartments are spacious with oversized windows that offer a breathtaking view of Beverly and the ocean. Trained staff members are available to assist seniors with activities of daily living. The staff was friendly and helpful and seemed to have a close relationship with senior residents. I would recommend Landmark to a senior who is still leads an active life and likes living in the city.

This is an assisted living community with a memory care unit, situated in downtown Beverly in a building that is a renovated middle school. Parking is tough, but there is easy access to a charming neighborhood of shops and restaurants.
The grounds have improved over the last couple years; currently, it’s OK as opposed to a “wow” property.
There is a casual feel to the place. One benefit is that there are ocean views in the dining room. The executive director has a caring sense and is involved with the residents and their lives. He also has a great sense of design and has recently remodeled many of the common areas to be the best they can be—with nice carpet and fixtures and lighting.
There has been trouble keeping an activity director here, although most other positions have been consistently filled.
The care is not outstanding, but it is good and reliable. There is a stable director of resident care and a stable executive director—with little other staff turnover. In the past, however, there was a problem with cashflow. They really take advantage of being a part of the community and take in the cultural activities, as well as welcoming volunteers in from the outside.
The food service director has been there a while—and goes the extra mile to get fresh produce from farmers’ markets and to provide nutritious breads and such. Given the budget and tools available, they make the most of it.
There is a dedicated memory care unit, which used to be so-so. But a couple years ago, when the owner’s mother became a resident there, many changes were made for the better: new carpet, lighting and such. As the unit was added as an afterthought, it is not particularly well designed for those with compromised memories, but it is clean and neat.
A distinct advantage: The place is affordable. It has a PACE contract, one of the last facilities to get one before the cut-off.
This may be a good fit for someone with limited resources who wants to be in a city setting.
