Herrick house assisted living facility is located in Beverly, MA in the same compound with Beverly Hospital and Ledgewood nursing home. I visit this facility regularly as a homecare nurse to check the progress of an alzheimers patient. I am not employed by Herrick house. I work with a homecare agency that sends homecare nurses to perform nursing care to patients living in assisted living in various facilities in the Boston area. The security of Herrick house is great. I am usually required to sign in and out. There is a grand staircase at the main entrance of the facility and it makes this facility look beautiful. The dining room does appear to be a bit congested especially when residents are having meals. However, the private rooms of my patients are spacious and well maintained. The alzheimers unit is usually locked i usually have to enter a secret access code to be allowed into the floor. 24 hour nursing care is provided and there is usually staff to assist residents with personal care and other ADL's.The meals are healthy and well balanced. Staff usually help residents walk to the dining area for their meals. Meals are also provided in the room for residents who are unable to go to the dining room. Staff also engages residents in recreational activities throughout the day. My patients seems comfortable living in this facility so i would highly reccomend it.

I used to visit Herrick house every weekend to visit my mother who lived in the alzheimers floor. I like the country style design of the assisted living. The security of the building was good was excellent. I had to go through a thorough security check at the front desk. I was required to sign in my name and the time of visit. I had to also buzz the doorbell to be allowed into the alzheimers unit. My mother's room was always clean. She seemed to enjoy staying there.

This assisted living facility is located on the campus of Beverly Hospital—and recently updated its entranceway to be more warm and welcoming. The location, on a hospital campus, gives residents and visitors access to many services and amenities, but the setting can also feel a bit institutional.
This was the first assisted living place to open in the state of Massachusetts. The building is 16 years old, but well maintained, with a New England charm to it. It’s operated on the medical model, which means there is excellent staffing for nurses, including 24-hour nursing coverage.
Inside, there is a grand staircase that isn’t used, but which creates a nice feel. There are several comfortable common areas—and a daily Happy Hour is offered, which is wildly popular.
The food is classic New England style, with several options available daily. The food service director has been there a while, so is knowledgeable and experienced. The dining room is clean and well appointed.
There is an adequate activities program, which includes some outside outings.
Memory care was added about 15 years ago, and operates in a special unit of apartments called the Spectrum Program. It is secure. But there is no natural wandering environment or access to outside. More activities are offered than in the other section of assisted living, but nothing especially creative beyond the norm.
The nurses also operate a wellness suite, with access to Beverly Hospital records that allows them to help coordinate pharmacy, rehab and other supportive health services. That reassures some residents that their care will be constant and secure.
Both the executive director and executive director of resident care were recently replaced; it’s too soon to tell whether the changes are good. The business manager, however, has been there a long time and has a good handle on the building’s operations.
Herrick House may be the best fit for Christian Catholic-based residents who do not have high level care needs; the residents are a fairly similar demographically.
Rates start at $4,500 and go up to $7,000 monthly; there are no programs or allowances for low-income residents.
