We were very unhappy with Awbrey House. The care was okay, but the administration was terrible. My mother-in-law was there for three years, and we were paying $3,500 a month. But without any evaluation or anything it then suddenly went up to $6,500 a month. It would probably that she needed the care for that amount, but they need to talk to the family members who are paying for it. You don't just suddenly present a bill for $3,000 more in one month and say this is your new bill. We can't afford that.

They went through eight administrators in one year, so something is wrong. The staff is okay, but there was a big turnover. They kept changing and nobody knew what was going on. The food was not good. My mother-in-law was a vegetarian, and instead of having a healthy diet for her, they would just take the meat off the plate. So a lot of times her dinner was just mash potatoes and peas, minus the burger or the meat. So that was frustrating. We actually had to go to the store and buy her food to bring in even though we were paying food there. I think my mother-in-law needed more care than they could give. It took us a while to get to the point where we realized we needed to move her. I don't think they have enough staff, too.
