I visited this facility
The staff appeared to be well trained and was professional. The staff seemed to love their work and that translated into their interaction with the residents, it was clear they were there to aid not take over the lives of the residents. Meals are served in a beautiful dining hall and the food is exceptional and the desserts are delightful. The community is active and many activities and events keep them engaged such as Bingo, Exercise classes, arts and crafts, Plays, programs, concerts and much more. Movie nights are a highlight with fresh Pop Corn. I found everyone to be in good spirits the majority of the time and all the staff was helpful to me.

We have a couple of possibilities as to what facility we will choose for my mother in-law and Elmcroft is our top choice. My mother in-law got an extension of 2 weeks for rehab and we are keeping an eye on her progress so in 2 weeks time she can either go home or go to an assisted living facility. Elmcroft was actually referred to me by a friend who has her mother there and location-wise it's just near to where we're at. One of the things I like here is that the staff does not seem to have a lot of turnover. The rooms are clean and has a homey environment. The dining room is spacious and homey. Their menus are good and I've also heard from a woman who's mother is there that the food is excellent. They also have a calendar printed off for the month to show all the activities in store for the residents.
I am a friend or relative of a resident
My husband's great aunt has been a resident of Elmcroft for over a year now, and we visit her one every other month. It was hard to put her in any assistant living home, because I remember her so young and vital. We wanted her reaming years to feel comfortable, and we were very weary about the facility she would live in. Unfortunately her Dementia had gotten uncontrollable, which meant we had no choice. We live closer to the Pittsburgh area, but a friend told us about Elmcroft. We decided to visit it, and we liked it. The staff was friendly and attentive. They provide twenty four hour care, so she will never be left alone; that was my largest concern. We typically go see her on family day, but we were able to go visit her on bingo night. She looked like she was having fun, and I haven't seen her like that in twenty years. My only concern was the staff being a bit younger, would they know what to do if anything bad happened? I spoke to the manager of the facility who does all of the hiring, and she showed me what training they have to go through just to keep the job. I felt more comfortable to know that these younger people have a good record, are drug tested, and are trained; furthermore, I found them to be very friendly. I would recommend this facility to someone who is looking for around the clock special care; like great aunt Emma who needs to be watched due to her dementia. We realized that we did not want to find her a new home because we loved her so much, but I realize that doing that helped her regain some of her freedom.
