I visited this facility

If I knew the type of place this REALLY was before my love one went there due to no open beds at another rehab facility, I would have preferred to leave her in the Hospital or bring her home instead of placing her here. This place isn't for your elderly loved ones who need attention and assistance, please DO NOT SEND THEM HERE EVERRR!!! Starting from the front desk where they didn't even have her name in their system, yet she's been there now two days, to the lack of professionalism throughout is sickening and when I asked if I could heat up a plate of food that I brought from my home so she can eat, (she's only diabetic and needs to eat) I was told NO the residents do not have that privilege. (Now excuse me if I am being a bother and requesting help) but no one was using the microwave and they have one onsite that only THEY the staff are allowed to use?!?! it So they rather her eat COLD food? I mean I cooked her a hot meal so she can have it but due to traveling reasons it didn't make it as hot as I would have liked. This seems too me as though they don't care about my loved one they only care about her insurance. I THANK GOD I am near by to care for her because they sure aren't. She's been there a week now and they've only taken her to exercise twice! I need to find the RIGHT department to send a complaint too because its not only my family but also yours. NEVER AGAIN!! I only gave a 2 stars for the Staff because there were two nice young woman who took the time to help me get her food warm even though I was told no they went above and beyond to help me get her some hot food.

If we had known how dire her condition was we could possibly have visited before she ended up back in the hospital with severe dehydration. How did that happen? You cant just provide water to some patients, you must see they drink it. You need a patient advocate to visit daily and make sure the patients are triving not just existing Thank God for hospital employees. The difference in care is night to day. And the compassion is 100% more obvious.

We placed Mom in the Life Care Center of Altamonte Springs because they are helping her get assistance with Medicaid. It's a women's only lockdown facility. She's doing good, she has adapted, and she's doing really well. The staff is very good. She hasn't complained yet, she likes to eat, so she says it's always good food. They have a patio and they have a cover for the patio.

My mom given her own room rather large. The staff is very friendly and engaged with the needs of your relative. My mom had physical therapy which she could not participate because of her condition. When I would call the nurses would offer to messenger call on their phones for my mom to talk to us and see us. It was so hard when they were put on lock down almost the entire time she was there. They allowed skype calls and we also requested to see her via her room window. Reason you ask my mom is not tech savvy found it hard to use skype etc. When she was discharged, the Case manager still checks up on her. On a day we ran out of supplies on a weekend we called the facility and they were able to save the day. Oh forgot the food is very good. I would recommend this facility.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My Mother recently passed -2-10-18. She was a resident of Life Care Center of Altamonte Springs for almost a year. I , as a daughter, paid numeral visit's a day, making sure her needs were meet. I took care of her for 10 years prior, I knew what it took to care for her. Right before her passing I would come in the late morning and find her still in bed ,and her meal setting on the tray cold. Also, in the couple of weeks before she passed,I would find her forced to set( she would be slumped over) and listen to something on the TV. Why, if she didn't feel like it! When she was put on Hospice ,the week before she passed, I came in and found a CNA trying to pull her out of a wheel chair and stand. I was told by the CNA, that she didn't know Mom was on Hospice. Why wasn't all the staff informed? Also ,as we know, the elderly can not hear as well. The staff who speak another language , which is ok, need to learn to speak slowly and clear to the residents. There was some staff who was very kind to Mom, which I appreciate. It concerns the family why there was no calls or letters, offering condolences after we lost our precious Mother.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My dad stayed at Life Care Center for several weeks. It was a nice place. The staff was wonderful, very caring, and very attentive. He knew all of the ladies’ names, and if he called to them, they would come. It was clean. You wouldn’t have known you were in a nursing home because it had a very nice atmosphere and a good smell. I was very impressed with it. They had a nice dining room. They posted their menu every day, and if a patient wanted a specific meal, they could request it because they had a chef there. I saw the meals, and they looked really good. If residents were feeling bad and wanted to eat in their rooms, they were brought meals to their rooms. If they wanted to go down and eat at the fireside, staff would take them down there so they could sit at tables. The rooms were very clean. Every room had a window, and it was landscaped beautifully outside. The whole thing was fenced in and had gazebos so people could go out and sit, even in wheelchairs. They had a rehab room, which was also very nice, and always had care dogs in there, which was really cool. If they wanted to visit with the dogs, the dog would sit while the person worked out and kept them company. They did bingo and had a guy come in and sing old songs that residents could clap and sing along to. They always had an activity calendar up, and they can participate in whatever they wanted. I would definitely use them again.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My father was here and I can tell you if your loved one can not speak up for them self , you do not want them here. It has been some time (over 1 year) but unless practices have changed greatly this is not a well run home. The staff did not even know of medical devises my father had and he had to have surgery because of it. The doctor was very upset at the condition it was in. I had staff tell me that this was not a good situation , we moved him and we were all happier and healthier !

There are just two reasons that we left Life Care. One, it was a little too big for my mother -- too many people. And two, she wanted a private room. The clientele there were socio-economically not at her peer group, so she is more comfortable where she is now in terms of her colleague or her co-residents, and she has some vanity about her. I never ate in the dining room there; I didn't care for it. It was too institutional and just adequate. The thing is it depends on what is important to the patient. If it were me, I would take the top medical care even if I have to suffer a little bit on rooms, but my mother doesn't think that way. She'd rather be comfortable and treated like a queen even if the medical care isn't any good. It depends on what the patient values, in my view. Their therapy was a five-star, and the nursing staff is a four-star. They were friendly and quite attentive, but the therapy is very good. If you were rehabbing, I would highly recommend it.

I had to get my mother to a nursing home. She went downhill, so we couldn't do the home care. It was the Life Care Center of Altamonte. There are several Life Care Centers, and I found the one in Altamonte was the nicest. The staff was excellent. I checked out several nursing homes, and it was way above all of them. They had lots of activities, but my mother wasn't at the stage to participate. The rooms were very clean, but not really spacious.

My dad's room at Life Care Center was nice though you have to share a room with somebody else. Because of hard of hearing people in the facility, the noise level from the television blends from the room across the hall. We were upset about him being subjected to that noise. They did have a very good rehabilitative eating program for the residents who had stopped eating. They encourage them and they really work hard to get them eating again.

We have placed my mother-in-law in Life Care Center of Altamonte Springs. She had been in there previously for her rehab so she wanted to go back there. We're very satisfied with the staff. It's a very cheerful atmosphere. The rooms are adequate and very clean. My husband ate there today and he said the food was above average.
