I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was at Westview at Ellisville Assisted Living and Memory Care. It was not a good experience. She first moved in there in the spring of 2019, and for probably that year, it was a good experience. She did not need much additional care. They have a tiered system there from 1 to 5 as far as care level. She came in as a 3 and that was fine. She needed help with her medicine and some assistance with bathing and things like that. It was a good experience for her and then COVID happened. Everything kind of got closed down and I do not begrudge any place for taking the safeguards they do. That's fine, understandably completely, but after we came out of COVID, it appeared my mom started having some issues with incontinence and they were not doing a great job of taking care of her and helping her with that. I talked to them about what we could do and her care level all of a sudden went from a 3 up to a 5, which is the highest level of care. We had to get her a new recliner, new clothes, and new bedding. We had to do all this to try to make the situation better, and it never got better. It got worse. By the time we left there, it was horrible. She was in a room that smelled of urine and they did nothing to help that situation. No matter what I brought in, no matter what I tried, it just didn't work. Westview is probably fine if you have a parent that doesn't need assistance, but not if you have a parent that needs assistance, which is called assisted living. They probably should need only minimal assistance or you need to be there every day to check on them. Even though I was there frequently, it still was not a good situation. I was heartbroken by the way that my mom's situation ended there. I can't even put into words how upset I was and how I felt that they just were not willing to give me any advice or offer any help on what we could do or try to do. It kind of got to a point where there was no return and that was very sad. It started out being a great place for my mom to be. I have nothing good to say about them now. They did not hold up their end of the deal of what they promised. There were no theatrics, no dramatics, nothing, there was no shouting and yelling and screaming. There was none of that. It was just why can you not take care of her? You were supposed to be able to do this and you tell me you can do this, and I come back days later and it's still the same. Nothing has changed. I come back weeks later and it's still the same. Nothing has changed, and I come back months later and we're still in the same spot and nothing has changed except for the cost that you keep charging us, which keeps going up and up and up, but her care is not going up. That's why we moved her. The food had a good balance. My mom seemed to like it. She's not a big complainer. I think she was overall happy with the food. Overall, ambiance and the facility, I would give it a 3. Her apartment when she moved out, I would have to give it a 1. I think the management needs to change there. The staff was ever-changing and the aides were ever-changing. It's very difficult then to get consistency. I think that's probably one of the issues they have there. My mom did not participate in many activities, but I saw numerous residents who did participate and it looked like they were having a nice time. They had a large community room there and they would do bingo, crafts, and memory game activities. They had a nice variety of activities. They just need to overall remember what they're there for, which is to take care of the residents. I don't think they're doing that. If you're a resident there who doesn't need a whole lot of help, I think you're probably fine, but it is assisted living and it is memory care, so these people need some help. It's not skilled nursing, but they still need some help and you pay for that. You pay for the type of help they tell you that they need. What they're being paid for, I don't think they're doing.

I visited this facility

I like Westview at Ellisville. The tour was very in-depth. I met the nursing director, the location manager, and the sales rep. I also met the caregivers that had been there for 15 to 20 years, and they knew residents. It was a couple hour tour. We talked a little bit with the residents. It was good. The caregivers have been there for quite some time. The other places are pretty brand new, whereas this place has been around for 20 years. The people stay there and work there. They're very attuned to taking temperature checks and not allowing people in that may have Covid. I don't remember their menu. They had quite a few of these. They have where you could order off a menu for like breakfast. There's always a selection. They have bedrooms both in the apartments for memory care as well as assisted living for my parents. We were looking strictly at memory care for my father ,and assisted living for my mother and how that would work out. They were talking about how my father probably would be a good conversationalist with another old man there. They have activities there. The facilities were definitely not as new, but they were well kept and well maintained. I saw all the amenities, and they were very nice. The services are highly rated there, and it seems like a really nice place. The pricing was good, it was comparable.

Dad Loves it there. He has friends his age to visit with. Dances with and loves the food. The events here are wonderful and the staff are the best, they care about Dad and all his needs./. He lives in Memory Care where the room is just his size.

Westview is an excellent choice for assisted living. The size of the apartment is perfect and includes space for everything a person would need or want. The food is delicious and is served in a beautiful dining room. The staff is caring and thoughtful. I am very impressed with the sheer number of activities offered every day and all of the effort put into making all holidays and occasions feel special for all the residents. I couldn’t be happier that I found this amazing place for my mother!!

I am/was a resident of this facility

The lack of care in memory care was overwhelming. Staff was incompetent, uncaring and lacked any compassion for the residents. Management was unbelievably rude to residents and family. The really good cna staff have left westview because of the conditions they have to deal with. Staff talk on their and text continuously, including the Mc Director. Westview claims to “ FEEL LIKE HOME””. Only if your home is totally dysfunctional. We no longer have to deal with Westview, but for the precious residents who are still there, PLEASE FIX THE PROBLEMS. They deserve better than that.

My father-in-law moved into memory care at Westview at Ellisville. The place is very clean and neat, and the people are very friendly. The dining area is very nice and clean. My father-in-law has been on field trips, and he has been coloring and doing bead work. They keep him pretty busy, which is what we were looking for. They have their own bus and there's an outdoor area.

Westview is full of caring people doing their very best to care for and tend to the needs of the residents. After having my Mom in another "facility" that will remain unnamed, Westview was a breath of fresh air. Everyone from the ladies who make sure everyone is well and cared for daily to the chefs and servers in the dining room, the Staff, the Wellness and Assisted Living Directors and Executive Director and all those I am forgetting to name are sincere, good people who truly care about who they are serving and how they do it. A loving environment for my Mom who has acclimated from her house in the country to her beautiful 4 room apartment with the help of all of the folks at Westview who truly try to make it home. We are blessed to have found them and even more blessed by all of them every day.

I just want to thank Westview for the outstanding care you gave my mom during the 2 and a half years at Westview. My sisters and I would recommend Westview to any potential residents without reservation. You have been a blessing.

We chose Westview at Ellisville for my parents. It was newer, highly-maintained, and we really liked it. The food is excellent there. Their room is very nice, and the staff keeps me up to date with everything that's happened. They have trips out where they take the residents places, and they had a lot of activities. They had a library, a huge gym, a big patio, and a dining room if you wanted to eat there. It's expensive, but the service is good.

I visited this facility

I loved Westview at Ellisville so much I wanted to move in. It's clean, elegant, respectful, quiet, and very comfortable. I liked the floor plans and the apartments. The staff was very informative, very patient with our questions, and did a great job explaining what would or would not be available. She made it very clear that they were all very well respected and their choices were respected. The dining area was very nice, very comfortable, the residents sit wherever they want, and there was no assigned seating or assigned dining time. They have specific times when they serve the entrée, but if they wanted to eat outside of the assigned time, they could still go. I liked everybody. We stayed for lunch, and everything was fantastic.

My overall experience with Westview was very good. The rooms were spacious, and the meals were structured well. The staff seemed very pleasant and outgoing. They had the standard tours. The price seemed to be comparable with others, but the location wasn't as convenient as it was the furthest from me.

Westview was not bad. It was older, more institutional and did not have the homey feel to it, but they were professional. It would have been OK, but it was just hallways and walls. There were doors with numbers on them, almost like hotel rooms.

I can't say enough good things about Westview! My father has been treated with respect by the caring and friendly staff and has acclimated much faster than I ever anticipated. There are plenty of activities to keep him occupied and with the staff's help, he already has some buddies he hangs out with. He loves the food. The apartments are clean, modern and everything about the place indicates "first class". Any questions or concerns I have had, have been addressed quickly and professionally by the competent staff. I visited numerous assisted living facilities prior to selecting Westview for my Dad. During my visits to Westview everything pointed to this being "the place". But the deciding factor was the overwhelming approval from friends whose parents resided here. I highly recommend Westivew!

I visited Westview, and it seemed like their activities were a little bit more mainstream than some of the other facilities. As far as extra physical activities, they have things like Wii bowling, Wii tennis, and things like that, which should keep them a little bit more up active. They had trips and all that kind of stuff. The rooms were gorgeous. They had a small dining area and a place for a bed, a TV, a dresser, and extra seating. I would say they were spacious. The dining area was set up restaurant style.

She’s in Westview Assisted Living. It’s a small community; it’s very important for us and for her that it’s not very overwhelming. It’s just a very nice facility. It’s only 2 years old. It’s a very beautiful building. The grounds are very nice and kept very clean. The rooms are laid out well with big windows and up to date. They have a little kitchenette that is very accessible, and the bathroom is very easy to get into. There’s no step to get into the shower which is nice. Everyone is so nice and so helpful. They have little buttons they wear around their neck. You press it and they come to help with anything. They check on them regularly and go to their room and ask if they want to come to the different activities to try to get them involved. There are a lot of activities to choose from. They have a little sing along, exercise, and movie every day. I’ve eaten there about four times; the food is good. They have a menu they can order off of as well as a special for each meal each day. They have a private dining room if family want to come and eat with them. We’ve been very happy with it.

My mother is at Westview at Ellisville. The facility is clean and new. The staff is very nice and she has been there for a little over a year now. The whole place is lovely. The facility is very clean. The only negative I have is that I feel like they don’t feed the healthiest food. They offer them processed food, but that is only my concern because mom likes the food. The staff are pretty good.

I went by Westview. I thought it was pretty good. I've gone over there in the past for a few things they had going on like bingo. They've always been real courteous to me. I thought the rooms are pretty nice, very adequate and they're bigger than some of the other ones. They have different speakers come in. And they had someone come by to help if a person is moving to a facility, they could help them with selling their house.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I have a family member living in this facility. The staff is great and the residents are surrounded by beautiful rooms. The issue is the food. The brochure pictures a filet mignon, a lobster tail, fresh asparagus and a baked potato. Well you will never see anything like that at this facility, not that anyone is asking for a menu of that caliber. The food is bland and the menu may change, but the same food is sent out, only with a different name. It appears the restaurant chef knows one flavor: bland. And hopefully your family likes overcooked everything, for that is what you get from this kitchen. Mushy pasta, hockey puck hamburgers, and dry fish. When a person gets to this stage in their life, food is one thing they look forward to, yet they will not get any satisfaction from Westview. I know complaints are made, and I frequently hear them myself, yet the elderly are afraid of saying anything, as they don't want to be targeted as trouble makers...they need these people to help them, so the complaints are either ignored or never spoken. Westview looks really nice, but they should have focused more on what the residents want and less on expensive decor.

My dad has moved in to Westview Assisted Living. It's close to our home so it's convenient for us. The facility is clean. Their apartments are bigger and cheaper than most in the area. The price point is lower for the square foot that you are getting. The staff and the residents are very nice and friendly. They do activities everyday, like X-box bowling, bingo, and field trips. He enjoys most of these activities. They also do ice cream socials and some guys would come in and play the piano. They also have them work out in the morning. Food is okay though it might be a little bit bland but that's understandable because of some health issues. We just like everything about it.

Westview at Ellisville Assisted Living was a very nice facility; very new and fresh. The staff was very cooperative. They actually decorated the rooms really nice. It would have been our second choice. If we had not gone to Delmar, we probably would have brought my mother-in-law there.

My husband was in Westview for eight days. It went really well. It was a really good experience. Everybody was just as nice as can be. My husband didn't mind us being there. He got along with everybody and they liked him and he likes that. It's brand new, so I don't know what it's going to look like in a few years. I want to use them again for respite care.

My great grandmother is quite elderly to the point that no body could take care of her any longer. We put her in this home because it was near where she currently lives. I think what make me most comfortable with this home is the customer service and the nice staff. The nurses are so kind and know my family by name-all of us! The staff really cares about her, everyone from the nurses, to the cleaning staff to the kitchen staff. You can tell they all love their jobs. The facility is very clean and never smells bad. I like to visit my grandmother a lot, there is a nice room where we can visit and play games and watch television. There is also a nice play to sit outside during nice days. There are plenty of places nearby as well to take her to lunch or grocery shopping. I am glad my family put here here!

My father was estranged from his father but they reconnected as my grandfather's health deteriorated. We went to visit him a few times and I was actually really surprised at how nice the facility was. The staff all seemed friendly enough and knew my grandfather on a first name basis and also showed some familiarity with us. That is to say, they must've spent time talking with him about life and family in general as they were aware of his family and showed courtesy to us. The facility was in a nice area and was well-kept and clean. As a small after-thought, my dad liked the fact that they gave him a couple smoke breaks a day. He was a chain smoker and this served to durastically cut down on his smoking but also gave him something to look forward to each day.
