Arden Courts of Elk Grove

This is a very nice care center with good aesthetics and great staff. There are two enclosed outdoor areas for use by residents and family members that have shade trees, seasonal plantings, and patio sitting areas. These are not large enough to take a long walk, but they are very pleasant and a great place for a short stroll or to sit and visit. It is in a fairly quite residential setting, set apart from and behind the Manorcare nursing home building. There are common areas spacious enough for comfortable visiting located throughout the building, both in the common hallway and in each of four "household" areas. The rooms are almost all private, with only a couple that can be shared; they are fairly large for this type of facility and all have good windows with usually some green space as part of the view. Each room has a spacious closet. The staff are wonderful with above-average tenure; many have been there well over ten years and provide kind, consistent, and respectful care. The food is above-average to very good; it is prepared on-site and served restaurant style, meaning it is plated for the residents in the dining room area and individually served. It always appears appetizing and is overseen by a professional dietary staff. Tasty and appropriate snacks are provided in addition to three main meals. This is a private pay setting so the cost is unfortunately out of reach for some; however, it is more cost controlled than some similar settings with no extra ala-carte add-ons for care charges.

I was able to visit and tour Arden Courts of Elk Grove, in Elk Grove, Illinois. Overall, I thought Arden Courts was a nice facility.

Arden Courts is specifically designed for memory care including Alzheimer’s. The grounds of the facility are fair. The grounds are well maintained, but paths and walking areas are limited. The common rooms and resident rooms are very nice. This facility is specifically designed for safety for those seeking placement for a friend or loved one with memory impairments.

The staff was very engaging. It was clear that they were familiar with the clients. I was able to observe a nurse do a fantastic job with a resident who was verbally aggressive. She was able to maintain professionalism and control, and eventually assist the resident to calm down.

Overall, Arden Courts at Elk Grove is an above average facility. I would recommend it to anyone seeking assisted living care facility for a friend or loved one with memory impairments.
