Arcadia is a Group Home for no more than 6 residents in Waxhaw. Owned by a married couple, both CNAs, Arcadia is a beautiful home, clean, calming, great food, activities & extraordinary attention to detail in regards to record-keeping and caregiving. My mother lived there for 2 weeks and it was the happiest I had seen her since she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 2 years ago. Unfortunately, she started having hallucinations that caused her severe panic, which upset the calm of the house. We hospitalized her and had her medications adjusted, and she has not had any hallucinations for the last 2 weeks. Unfortunately, Arcadia would not take her back, as they did not approve of the neurologist who treated my mother in the hospital, and they felt they could not handle someone in her condition.
If your loved one with dementia is not experiencing any aggressive behaviors, this is the place for them. I wish my mother could have continued living there.
They also do not take anyone who is bedridden.
