I visited this facility

My father will be moving into Luther Manor. It was pretty awesome. The staff is very friendly, very knowledgeable, and very helpful. The facilities were very clean. The amenities were very top-notch. They showed me their independent living. They have like a security button that each resident had to push on the wall. It's going to be next to my father's phone on the wall. They have to press that button before 10 AM. If the residents have not pushed it by then, someone will go on to the apartment to check, to make sure that they're okay and safe. I thought that was pretty awesome. They have a laundry room for those apartments that don't have the washer and dryers in them. What was available within the timeframe that we wanted was a small studio and then the largest studio. They didn't have a 1-bedroom available, which is what we wanted. If later on, one opens up, then we could always go into a different apartment. The facilities are very clean and very nice. The people seem very friendly. They have a nurse and a doctor there if people don't have one. It's also pet friendly. The staff who showed us around, she's very friendly and very knowledgeable. I've been on the phone with her back and forth on different things. She's very helpful. Even when we had our tour, we went into a room to talk about things, and she talked to us as a family. But she let my dad know, "We want to be here for you. What is it you're looking for? What can we do for you?" So, it's very consumer-oriented. They do provide meals. They have a cafe that the residents can choose from, and then they also have a restaurant. The seniors can decide if they want to go down and eat in the restaurant, or they can order it and have it delivered to their apartment, or they can order it and decide they just want to go pick it up and eat in their apartment. The facility is very clean, and it was kind of quiet, which was kind of cool. When we went, it was around dinner time, so a lot of people could have been eating and there wasn't a lot of traffic. There were some residents around, but a lot of them were at supper. We didn't get to interact with them much. My father will have a large studio, so there's an alcove that had ample closet space that we're going to put his bed in. The view of the apartment is over a pond, and we saw ducks in there. They have a walking path through the different sets of apartments, like assisted living, and hospice care units. I would love for him to eventually get an apartment that had a balcony because he's a gardener. So, at least he would be able to plant flowers and stuff on his balcony. The apartment was very clean. When I talked to the staff on Friday, she informed me that they were going to paint the apartment before my dad moved in. Right now, it just has the floor there, so they're also going to have a carpet for him.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was a patient at Luther Manor for almost six months. During such time she received exceptional care. All services rendered were wonderful. Every individual my family and I encountered and worked with from finance, Social Services, Nursing and Hospice care and pastoral care, treated us like we were part of their family. I cannot say enough about the nurses and nursing assistants. Every time I visited, it was obvious that my mother was well taken care of, clean and happy! The nursing staff updated me frequently on my mother's status and she was given respect, dignity and loving care. The hospice team were so compassionate and ensured my mother did not suffer at her end of life journey. My family and I could not have asked for better. A job well done. Thank You.

The tour we had at Luther Manor went very well. It's just a bit of an older community home, and the physical layout of the building seemed very cramped. We visited one studio and a one-bedroom and they were both very small, but the staff was very helpful. The dining areas were very large and very spacious. Then they have courtyards and patios, too.

My husband stayed in Luther Manor, and he hates the place. I have tasted the food, and it seems perfectly good to me. I liked it, but he won't eat it. He feels that the staff is only there because they need jobs. He feels that they don't really care about the people or the patients. He spent a lot of time at the VA hospital, where he felt that the staff there truly cared about every single person; he didn't get that impression from Luther Manor. He stayed in his room and did not come out. He was in the nursing home section, and of course everything was shut down for Covid. I saw the rooms where people could gather to watch TV, and there were no pianos that I noticed. The place was very nice, and it certainly was conveniently located, but they seem to be short-staffed. There were long waits when he put the light on for help.

Luther Manor was phenomenal. I am so pleased. It is meticulously groomed and cared for. They took into consideration that I have a pet, and they took into consideration all of my interests. I looked at least five different apartments, and the staff saved the best for last. She said to me, "I'm actually going to show you one more, and I'm sure this is the one you will chose." My son was with me, we walked in, and it was exactly what I wanted, so it is just perfect. It's a lovely facility; it's just amazing. I'm very pleased. They have three different restaurants, a little grocery store, and a beauty salon, and everything is on site. They have exercise facilities too. I can't speak highly enough of it. I'm a master gardener, so I have a patio with gardens surrounding it. I have enough wall space to hang my paintings. It is just amazing. The room is 2,000 square feet. It has two bedrooms, one bath, a powder room for guests, a lovely kitchen, and a very nice living/dining-room combination. I only met one staff. She was the person who gave me the tour. I've worked with her for several weeks. She's positively amazing and she took everything into consideration. The place is absolutely immaculate. I can't speak highly enough of the accommodations. This just gives me the opportunity to stay right in the same area and right in the same community. Even if I were completely disabled, I would just move within the complex or campus to a different site, and this is what I wanted. It is just a wonderful place. It is like living in a park.

Cleanliness of facility 4 Updates to facility 2 Communication 0 Attention to detail 0 Never answer phones, return phone calls to family whenever they feel like it, if ever. Follow through on requests questionable at best. Administrator hasn’t a clue and apparently doesn’t care. Bad news. My comments pertain to management not the caregivers/aides.

Luther Manor has a full continuum of services, which is a good thing for elderly people who just need some help to begin with and might have to move on to skilled nursing eventually. They had pretty good activities. I liked the people that run the activities and do the rehab. The staff was very good. The room that my father had was on the lower level, but it needed some rejuvenation because it was a little musty. Otherwise, they took very good care of him. The food was decent. They give people the option of what they want to eat. Overall, it was a pretty good place. If he had been on a different floor for the skilled nursing and his rehab, I would have probably let him stay there. I would recommend them. He got very good care. They were very protective of him and they watched over him. I just didn't like the unit that he was in. It was not as bright and uplifting as the other place.

We had my father in Luther Manor when he needed nursing home care, and they were wonderful. The place never smelled bad. They kept him clean; he always had clean clothes on. They took good care of him. The food was good. We have nothing but glowing reports for them. My father was there eight years ago, but we visited again because we wanted to enroll my brother. We talked with the representative who took us on a tour of the facility. It was beautiful. She was very professional, very thorough, answered our questions, took special time out to give us face-to-face information, and toured us through the entire facility. She told us what the different plans were and how they would handle somebody who needed more care by graduating them to the next level of care. If they seemed like they were fine where they were, they would give them as much independence or as much care as they needed. They were very accommodating. He would've had a room with as much privacy or as little as what he required, and they had people who would come in for his special needs, like personal grooming or laundry. They had everything very organized and could answer a person's every need at any level. We've had a good experience with them in the past and our visit was a very positive experience again. The staff showed us the cafeteria, and it's very nice with tables where people could sit and converse and have their lunch. I was very impressed.

We were very comfortable with Luther Manor Courtyards. My mother is a Lutheran, but they are non-denominational as far as their residents are concerned. The size of the room was quite small. Also, it's very large, and my mother tends to get disoriented. We were concerned that if she came out of the room on her own and got confused, it might deter her from going out of her room on her own again. However, they do supply mentor residents to help new residents that move in. The staff was wonderful. I walked in -- I didn't even have an appointment; I just went there because I couldn't get anybody to return my calls. They bent over backwards to provide me with information, got somebody to come out and talk with me, and took us on a tour. They were wonderful. They were in the process of finishing up the remodeling of their dining area, and it looked like they were going to be lovely. It opened out to an open courtyard, and it looked like it's going to be wonderful.

Luther Manor is an older facility with everything there, but I don’t like the way it’s organized as far as the finances are concerned in paying for it. You have to put endowment down and I’m not interested in doing that; I don’t like having to put down a large amount to start with. The sanitation, rooms, and staff were fine.

I know several people who lived in Luther Manor, and they’re all very happy with the care that they received. The apartments are all roomy, and comfortable. The staff was very helpful, and the dining area was pretty open.

My mother has been in a hospice room there, and the care is terrible. If your loved one needs care take them somewhere else. My mother needs constant oxygen and I have found her without it many times. She is not supposed to get out of bed without assistance and has a bed alarm attached, well the alarm goes off and it take more than 10 minutes for someone to respond. The nurses told me they can't hear it at the nursed station, so what is the point of the alarm? Just to appease the family that maybe someone would look in on her. Terrible care for a dying loved one.

heard good things about Luther Manor, but I have yet to really see and feel these things. They said that she was going to have activities and things, but since my mom's been there, she hadn't really mentioned very much about the activities. They said that they would go on trips, take them outside, and they had things like that, but I don't think she's been outside yet on a nice day. I was a little impressed about some of the things that they were going to offer and stuff like that, but like I said, I haven't heard my mom say that they do anything but sit in the room and listen to music or watch TV, and they probably have some board games, but she said the food is somewhat nice. She is not in assisted living; she just goes to their day center.

I had looked at and felt comfortable with Luther Manor. It looked good, and they had a good plan. It had everything that I was looking for. It was not quite as well cared for. It’s an urban place. I was very seriously thinking of it. I have kids in Milwaukee and Madison, and that was a consideration. It is better for the continuing care part. That was very important to me.

I visited this facility

We went to visit Luther Manor becasue we looked for a place for our parents. They had a variety of levels there, so they did not need to transfer to other facilities if needed. Even in the independent living facility, they had a medical person assigned that worked with the residents on their medications and checked them. The independent living quarters were way back off the main road and they could stay together as a couple. There was also a garden where they could take their dog for walks. The apartment was one door from the laundry facility and there was a big sitting area right outside. There had a shuttle that took them to places, a pharmacy and doctors in the campus. I thought they needed a pool. I recommend this facility to other people.

I visited this facility

We spent a fair amount of time in an outdoor garden that was a very nice space, perfect for meeting with family members. It was a relaxing, stress-free, comfortable space that was a much more pleasant setting than a meeting room or personal room would have been. Overall, the facility was modern, well-kept, and clean, although it felt a little institutional and sterile. The smell throughout the facility was off-putting as well - but that may be just due to the difference in age between myself and the residents. The staff were attentive and helpful, they directed us to where we needed to be, and I noticed them taking care of the residents very well. The amenities of the facility were plentiful and well-used, but I feel like some more interesting or exciting spaces and programs could help enrich the lives of the people who live in Luther Manor. Overall, it seems like an excellent retirement/assisted living/nursing facility, and that the quality of life it offers to the elderly would be hard to match.

I really like this facility. We looked at this assistant living complex for my grandmother. We like the location because it is quiet, and very close to my parents home. We did not like the smaller room available because she would not have her own bathroom, and would also have a very small room, instead we decided to have her go with one of the suites. She is not as comfortable there as whe was in her home, however we know she is safe, and is very close. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They are really good at calling us if there is an issue, or if anything is going on we should be aware of. This is the first year my grandma is staying at the facility, and it seems like this will be a facility she will remain at. We also like the simi circle drive way in the front of the building. It is easy for us to drop her off and pick her up, when needed.

Interfaith has provided drivers for Medical treatment. The drivers were all volunteers who were kind, aware, interested and most helpful. They engaged my husband in solid conversation about their activities when they were young, which opened the door to communication. They also have offered in home help, which I have not yet used...but feel that when the time is right I would happily involve them in some hours of care with complete trust.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother stayed there, first in the rehabilitation wing for six weeks, then as a private pay resident for 11 months (she wanted to continue getting the excellent physical therapy services) before moving to assisted living at another location. Throughout her stay there she has received the best care possible. The nursing staff is attentive and the CNAs are pleasant and hard-working and really care for the residents. The staff is in constant contact with family whenever a medical issue arises. The food is OK (much more flavorful in the rehab wing, but once you're a resident the quality goes down a small notch). The first floor private room and private bathroom are very nice, both in rehab and in the regular nursing home section. The second floor smaller private rooms with shared attached bathroom are way too small and are to be avoided. The grounds are lovely and provide many areas that residents can go to for fresh air. Prompt transportation shuttle for medical appointments a valuable service. Many activities and accessible religious services. Residents can be as active or not as they choose.
