    I visited this facility

I went to Primrose because they were advertising a day program for seniors and I was interested in it. I spent five hours there and was interviewed and taken on a long tour of the place. When I got home that evening, they called me and said they actually didn't have any openings on their day program and that there was a waiting list of eight people. Can you imagine going and spending hours talking to someone to have them tell you two hours later that there aren't any openings and not only were there no openings, there are eight people ahead of you I left about at 2:30 in the afternoon, so she had to sign up eight people at such short period of time. So I didn't feel like she was very honest in that situation. I think what she did to me was totally awful and unprofessional. I think they ought their guests a little better than that. It was bad experience. Primrose was a very nice facility. They have a nice program set up and it was very good for people with Alzheimer's or dementia. It was on a large piece of property and it was totally gated all the way around, so that residents could walk around the property at any time of the day. I like the space and that it is gated, which would keep the people safe. They also had a good security system, which was really important for Alzheimer's. It was a lockdown facility but the feeling of it is very open. The staff was also nice with the exception of that one person. They have a beauty shop. Their price for the day program was very good, but their in-house residential program, the daily price of it was very high. I would never put my mother in there as a resident.

    I visited this facility

My mother-in-law needed 24 care at Primrose Assited Living when she had advanced Alzheimer's disease. One of the things I first noticed about Primrose is that it didn't have that dreaded "nursing home" smell when we visited. The facilituy was very clean, orderly, and home-like. Staff were relaxed, helpful, cheery, and very professional and kind to residents, even my mother in law, who could be agitated and a little aggressive at times. Staff worked closely with her physician to adjust her medicines on a weekly or monthly basis in order to make her more comfortable, less fearful, and less agitated. She improved after some medication adjustments, and never had that "snowed- falling asleep in my chair" look. She was awake and engaged in various daily activities, such as exercise, miniture golf, cooking, art, music, etc. The grounds were pleasant with colorful and healthy plants, flowers, trees, and grass, and residents could stroll the outside safely. Primrose employed plenty of staff to meet the needs of the residents, which was evident by their quick response to resident needs, cheerful and unhurried disposition when interacting with residents, and a community feel of staff where everyone helped out. I was impressed that all staff helped with activities, which were planned and organized by the Recreation Therapist. In this way, the atmosphere was cheery and felt fun. We ate a few meals with my mother in law at Primrose. There was a private dining room available for us to eat together privately. The food was delicious and homemade by an excellent full time chef. Some staff brought in their dogs during the work day, and this really made the facility seem even more cheerful, warm, and home-like. The dogs were friendly, calm, clean, and very soothing to have around. When it came time for my mother-in-law to need hospice care, Primrose worked closely with a community hospice to make her as comfortable as possible during her decline. We were impressed by how caring, responsive, and knowledgable the hospice staff were. My mother-in-law had a peaceful dying experience with loving family and staff around her. I would highly recommend Primose, especially for Alzheimer care.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I went to visit a family friend and was pleased to see the attentiveness of the staff with all clients. The staff was very nice and i could tell the clients felt comfortable around them. I find that very important because when you know that the person you care for finds it fun and feels like home is awesome. When i went they were having lunch and the meals look and smell appetizing, there were staff available which i likes because an emergency can happen in a few seconds. They had games and i couldnt help but notice the lovely garden available for short walks. I would certainly recommend Primrose to a friend who was looking at the best options for their loved ones. Thank you Primrose for making Herb feel like he has an extended family.

Primrose offers memory care only -- all stages -- in assisted living. They also have an onsite adult day center. The staff is very good at caring for residents with dementia at all stages. They're very qualified, and the have a nurse of staff for medical assistance. It's a very good choice for memory care, but they have only six rooms, so they always have a waiting list. It's located in a safe, residential neighborhood, but it's a bit remote. The food is fair--nothing exceptional. And the activities are all geared to memory loss--all very appropriate.
