38 CFR 3.54 will override the marriage of 1 year if your spouse died with a service connected death. I hope this helps spouses out there in need! I lost the love of my life and will miss him forever! I try to help others as much as I can including Veterans in need! Hang in there you Vets you have many pulling for you and care! We need you in our Americas future more than ever because you are the strong and the brave! Just look outside at the fools we have smh so please know we NEED YOU!!!!!

I have a question. My husband was KIA October 2009. I have been receiving DIC for both my son and I since he was killed. I am currently engaged to be married and I understand my DIC benefits will be terminated due to my marriage. My question is will my son then be able to apply for and receive DIC benefits?

I feel that the 10 year waiting rule is very cruel. We have been married for 32 years. Four years ago my husband had to quit working due to his service connected disability. I had to quit my job to help him . If something happens before the 10 years are up I will have no income.

why does this take so long? My husband died in December, and we filed the paperwork before the end of the year. Still nothing. Will lose my house if the VA doesn't hurry up! I don't understand what takes so long. He was 100% P/T disabled for 15 years before he died. Not rocket science.

I have been advised to apply for DIC. Can you please send me the form to be completed? I am already in receipt of the Veteran's Widow's Pension.
