My aunt has been charged up to $150 a month on her Visa credit card accounts that she no longer uses for things they offered with her statement. Things that made her think she should get like: 24 nursing hotline program, theft identity program, perscription advisor program, on and on. None of which she ever used but are impossible to cancel out of even for a power of attorney. They are all jumbled codes on the statement as charges so you don't know what they are for. You call and you get a run around of people that are just answering the phones. Even our power of attorney for her could not get a description of the charges for months. The only recourse was to have him close the credit card acct.s to stop those charges. $150 a month for over a year really hurt. A topic should cover this sort of thing.
Hi Nell,
I'm so sorry for your aunt's credit card situation. But you definitely raise an issue that I think is common and I will pass it along to our editorial staff. They may be interested in doing some research and including it in our site's content. Thank you very much for your suggestion!
You may want to post about this in one of our other support groups - particularly Caring Central. Others may be able to offer you advice on how they handled similar situations.
