      <description>&lt;p&gt;I think you should post this in the legal forum. A lawyer may be able to petition the court to stop the payments due to financial hardship or incapacity. It really depends on the agreement and the state you live in. You can always call a lawyer for advice.&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>'payments to an ex wife--I need your advise' posted by ckh @ {post.created_at.to_s(:post_time)}</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;my husband of 78 is in care. He has made payments to his ex-wife since 1974. At that time court orders were written with no experation date. Now that he is in care there is not simply the money left to pay this. Has anyone else been in  this situation. 
She has a government and a work pension and while that doesn't make her well off, she is okay. I have written and asked her to relieve him from these payments while he is in care. Van you give me some advise.&lt;/p&gt;
