Ridiculous cost of funerals

How do they expect people to be able to afford to lay their loved ones to rest when they want to charge obscene amounts of money?? A women I thought of as my grandma recently died and her family cannot afford the funeral costs. They are trying to scrap together money just to have her cremated and are struggling to do that. They have been calling around trying to get people to help out but everyone keeps turning them down. She was an amazing woman who touched everyones lives around her. Everyone that knew her called her grandma or mom. She won't be having a proper funeral where everyone that was blessed to know her can say their final goodbyes. It blows my mind that people are so unwilling to help a family in need.
