Today I went out to our garden to pick stuff for a salad. There was a writing spider in the middle of the tomato plants. Now it should be known that I have never seen a writing spider except in Myrtle Beach which is where my mom lived before she passed on last year. I've never seen one here before or in our garden or anything. The spider had written... MMMMMM MA MA MA MA MMMMMMM or something like that.
Now it is only because of Mom, that I know about writing spiders, as she used to track their writing regularly. I would hear her reports of what it said, and her attempts to decipher it.
It felt like a message from mom. Well? Anyone else have stories?
I've got a ton of great mom stories, though my mom is still living so I shan't share them now. When I read your post, though, I couldn't help but to wonder if your mom was enjoying some of her favorite food.
So what do you think it is, Rebecca? Homemade chocolate chip cookies, nachos, a nice cup of tea? She clearly wanted you to know she was content.
Beyond Charlotte, I've never heard of a writing spider before! Sounds like a message was being left, and how fantastic is that? :D
The tomato plants look out over the brocolli, kale and chard. So mom was clearly saying
'Yeah dark green leafy things. Oh and some ice cream would be good too. Did you say blueberries? yummmmm "
Inspired by this message, I have just eaten a piece of homemade blueberry pie with icecream! (I'll have the greens tomorrow.... :>)
But seriously, I love to think that its a little greeting from mom.
I know this is a tangent from your "mom stories" intention, but I love it when I get a little message from the great beyond from my father-in-law or grandmother. It gives me a little warm fuzzy feeling. What's funny is that when the message is from my grandmother, it's some little nugget of her wisdom. When it's a message from my father-in-law, it's him being humored at someone (mostly my children) bucking the system. I'm smiling thinking about them both.
I like to think your mom is pleased with your blueberry pie and ice cream celebration of her message.
Thanks so much for sharing this today, Rebecca.
not a tangent at all. I feel like I've had strong messages from other close people in my life that passed along. have a told you the porcupine and glasses story?
So do tell a nugget....
Absolutely, absolutely, ABSOLUTELY no doubt in my mind and soul that your mom is just touching base. I think that when we lose a loved one, our awareness to these visits/messages/situations is completely heightened. How wonderful!!! I wish you many, many more 'experiences.'
Thanks Carole! So, any good stories? Do share!
My mom is not gone yet, but is leaving us very soon. I don't know if its her or if its her mother, but I must begin with saying that the women in my family are, how should I say it, in tune. I can hear her, as if she were sitting next to me. And I would say that I was losing it too, except that I finally decided to share this with my other siblings and they have had some things happen too. I'm sure this sounds insane, but at the exact moment two Saturday's ago that they were whisking her away to the hospital because they could not get good vitals on her, I was at home being woken from a sound sleep feeling like my heart just went down the hill of a roller coaster. They apparently did not have time to stop and call all of the family, just my oldest sister and i was not informed of this until I had already thought I was dieing myself. I could clearly hear her saying my name while this was going on. I told my husband that I just thought the stress was finally getting to me and made an appointment with my doctor for that Monday. The doctor called it anxiety, only for me to find out later that afternoon that at the exact moment I was having my "anxiety" ...............they were trying to revive her. I'm a believer
.................mom's reach out to their children..............even if they have to wake them up to do it!
wow kimi, that is amazing! Its wonderful that you have this powerful connection. And it must feel really good to know you are not totally nuts. Even though we don't really understand it all.
