I use a manual Hoyer-lift to transfer my husband from bed to wheelchair. He weighs 270 lbs. We have the bed downstairs in living room that has carpet. It is so hard for me to move the lift on the carpet. Any suggestions for floor covering on top of the rug? I'm tempted to remove the carpet but he objects to this idea.

Hi Sue Ann!

I'm thinking of those plastic runners you see in offices - or the big under-desk plastic pieces that office chairs roll on. Do you think one of those might help?

Hi Laura I think that's a great idea. I'll run to staples and check it out. I really need a "standing lift" instead of the Hoyer, but his insurance won't cover it. that way i wouldn't have so much distance to travel to get him in the wheelchair. I just hate swinging him around up in the air trying to make those turns to get to chair. thanks for your reply.
