How do you comfort someone going through radiation

Here's what I think i would ask for:

• wool socks
• lots of water
• a wodehouse book

I was looking for a roast recipe yesterday online and found this thread [chowhound.com] started by a daughter wanting to give her recovering Dad the meal he asked for .

Does anyone have a good pot roast recipe to share? It's what one father wants now that he feels well enough to eat.
