anyone know how i would go about this? I am an only child 1,000 miles away from parents. yeah, I got a few worries on my mind. I have just joined Caring and am completly lost. If anyone knows what to do for finding an inperson group in my area can you let me know? Thanks!!
Hi Anonymous,
I found out that our local hospital has support groups as does our local Area Agency on Aging. You can probably find links to the Area Agency (Federally mandated services) on the local links tab on this site. They are pretty helpful. GOod luck.... it is hard! I was caring for my mom - probably similar distance, and now my dad (in a different state) is starting to show signs of need... and so I'm starting over.
Hey there! Welcome to Caring.com!
You may want to call your local Area Agency on Aging and ask about a long-distance caregivers support group. If you check out Caring's Local section, you can plug in your zip code and get contact information for resources.
This is very useful info! Thanks!
I'm moving out of state in September. :)
