I'm fortunate enough to not be caring for my parents directly right now.  They're independent.  But I'm wondering, are weekends more or less stressful or caregivers?  During the week there's a lot of routine and schedule.  For the sandwich generation of caregivers, there is the hustle and bustle of kids getting ready for school, doing homework, etc.  Do you and the loved one you care for thrive on all of that activity?  Or do you crave the lazier pace a weekend can bring?

I think that they are much more stressful.  My kids are home and I have less help on the weekends from outside.  No one wants to work on  the weekend so I end up doing it.  I think it is much tougher.  It takes away so much from being able to spend more time with my children

I had to laugh when I saw your question.  As someone who cares for my mother in our home, I look forward to the weekends for relief when my husband will be around to help me out with the routines.  But then when the weekend comes, I find myself looking forward to Monday for relief because I find it just as wearing trying to incorporate him and his activities and his needs into an already demanding caregiving schedule without letting it cause more stress and confusion for my mother!  So each one is its own type of stress.
