For the last 4 months, I have had a pain in my right breast just about the nipple, it's sore to the touch and that's about it.
It doesn't feel like a lump as it feels basically the same as my left breast.
I have had a doctor look at it but she couldn't notice anything and advised to tell her if it continues
I am a male therefore I know breast cancer is a lot more rare but I was wondering if I should even worry about this or push to figure out what this pain is.
thanks
Hello anonymous,
I'm sure this must be very distressing for you! If your doctor isn't concerned, then I probalby wouldn't worry. However, if you feel there is still something truly wrong, see her again and insist on further testing, or perhaps get a second opinion.
Here's a link to some information on Breast Cancer that may help you in your decisions.
Take care and let us know how things are going!
With all respect for LauraL
, I strongly disagree with what she says:
If your doctor isn't concerned, then I probalby wouldn't worry.
I have gathered a lot of cancer stories [metastaticlivercancer.org] where the cancer patients went to the doctors to get the exact same answer:
"nothing to be concerned about".
Same with our father: they couldn't find what was wrong with father much more than a year before he finally was diagnosed with secondary liver cancer.
Follow your gut feeling and do as LauraL advices: go and get a second, third... opinion and persevere:
until some doctor tells you exactly what it is.
- Pain is always an indication that "something is wrong".
- Pain for 4 months means it's not something that goes away on its own.
Unfortunately this pain could be related to anything like:
- stress,
- food,
- emotions,
- skin problems,
- using the wrong soap,
- having cancer or ...
- worrying because you think that something is wrong...
If you neglect pain, sooner or later another bigger symptom will show up.
If you tackle pain, you can find a solution much faster.
And do as LauraL says: please give us updates!
Thank you SLC for that further info - I appreciate it!
You are most welcome LauraL : 2 know more than one :-)

just because u r a male does not mean it is not "breast" cancer. go to a breast cancer clinic and ask them if there is "MANOGRAM" to detect cancer in a man's chest. also just because the pain radiates in the "manboob" region does not mean it to be breast cancer. like the response above statedit could be many differents causes; muscle extention/strech due to slight off kitler position lifting or even tying ur shoe; plursey(?) on spelling but simply put "gas between the membrane and tissue"; do not "just let it go" be ur own advocate and keep going to a doctor that does not dispell your concerns by saying this is only a female disease and you may even try alternative medical providers. hope u are okay and will check on you later
