I am 2 months post-bilateral mastectomy and it's time to get my prosthesis, bras, etc.

Medicare will not give me the allowable amount and I havn't located a supplier in town (Austin, TX) who will give me the information either.  Also, I have no idea what items I am entitled to.

Any information/leads would be appreciated.

Hi austingirl,

Congrats on your recovery!    Here is to good health for you in the future!

I just did a quick search and also came up empty handed in finding out the allowable amount.  How strange it's not on the Medicare.gov site!

Something you may consider doing is contacting local suppliers and ask them.  I'm betting they'll have that information on the tip of their tongue.  They file that paperwork every day, I'll bet.

Good luck!

I'm not sure about the allowable amount from Medicare, but you can call the American Cancer Society at 800-227-2345.  They can help find local resources for supplies and usually have programs to help women get bras and prosthesis for free.  Hope this helps!

I hope you found your answer by now, but if not, try:

http://www.medicare.gov/Coverage/Search/Results.asp?State=TX [medicare.gov]

Well, you would put in the state you live in now. Medicare part B is what pays for this.
