Two months ago my mom was diagnosed with non hodgkins lymphoma stomach cancer. When she was diagnosed, the Dr.'s said the tumor was about 60% of her stomach. They also said it was not agressive, and that the cancer responds really well to chemo therapy  She has total of 8 sessions once every 3 weeks. She recently had her 4th session, so shes about half way there.

She has lost close to 50 lbs and does not have the appetite to eat. She eats very little and maybe 1 or 2 ensures a day. What is a good way to increase her appetite? Any food remedys that would help increase her appetite? The Dr's say she'll make it if the chemo is succesful and it has been doing its job so far but I am very worried...

When my dad had cancer, mom would ask him every day what he wanted to eat.  He always said Potato Soup.  And every day mom would make him potato soup.  Try to make a light but favorite food for her.  Encourage her to eat to keep up her strength, but don't force her to eat.  It will irrate her and drive you nuts.  I know I am there now with my mom.  She eats ham & cheese sandwiches every day and of course ice cream.  Don't deny her any foods, let her eat cookies all day if that is what she wants.  It is nutrition.

Thank you Annoynmous. Yeah I try to make or give her anything that she feels like eating and its usually something light like soup. She'll eat it...but not very much of it. Then she'll get tired of it later. I know its the chemo that is mainly affecting her appetite but I dont force her but simply encourage her to eat. Me and my mom love sweets! haha I get that from her. But these days she craves it every so often. Since she doesnt eat a lot of solid foods I usually encourage her to drink a lot of liquids like water, ensure, and juice. Sometimes I'll try to make a smoothie for her with the ensure and add in some protein but shes not a big fan of it, she'll usually take a few sips of it and call it quits.. I want to help her keep her strength up and enjoying eating again but im running out ideas...
