Hello,

HMO doctors do not make plan, hence you have to push them or file complaints. If she goes low at the border, she will need them in through IV immediately.

Check out this website and buy the book. There are a lot of helpful resources/info.
www.lungcancerclaims.com.

Send hugs and best wishes,
V

If you haven't talked with your Dr. yet about Avastin, you should. It is a very expensive drug but is usually covered by insurance. It increases the blood and platelet counts.

Ask about side effects as well.

Hugs and prayers to you and your mother!

Hello Lisa,

I'm glad we could be of help! Talking with the doctor should help clarify how things should go. (((Hugs))) We're thinking of you!

Thanks for the information. I did some checking on the links that you sent me and found some really helpful information. My mom is scheduled for another treatment this Thursday and we will also have a chance to talk to her doctor.

Hi Missy,

Thanks for asking about my mom. She is scheduled to have another treatment this Thursday, so please keep your fingers crossed for her! We've also reached out to friends and family that have or have had cancer. This has really helped my mom and dad as they are discovering that they are not alone in this fight.

Thanks again!

Lisa

Hi there,

How is your mom doing? Has she been able to have another treatment yet? In my experience, docs do put together a treatment plan, but it's subject to change based on how the patient is reacting to the drugs. That seems to be exactly what you and your mom are experiencing.

Please let us know how things are going. hugs

Do you know if it is common for doctors to have to "develop" a chemotherapy treatment plan for a patient? I am asking because my mom started on the drug Gemzar two weeks ago. She had one treatment, but due to low blood counts and platelets counts, she has not been able to take another treatment. Also, because her counts are still somewhat low, does it mean the chemotherapy is still working in her system?
