I am in a similar situation concerning my wife's condition. However, the neurologist who tested her states that although her symptoms and results are consistant with someone who has Alzheimer's, there is no definitive diagnosis until after death, because the only way to know for sure who did and who did not have this condition is on autopsy to see whether the brain has atrophied. However, we have begun treatment of the symptoms in any case, yet maintain hope that this does not turn out to be a full progression into Alzheimer's. I am currently seeking a local support group who can give me feedback as to what to expect, what works, and what doesn't work, as well as emotional and informational support. Right now, more knowledge and support is what I am seeking.
