We are planning an IVF cycle in 2 weeks. It's a big deal. Lot's of money. My father informed me they are moving to assisted living in, like a month. It has to be done as all the drama of my mothers alzheimers is finally coming reality. We went through all the stages. Denial until it was getting so obvious that I set up an appointment with the General Doctor and she was diagnosed on the spot. Now, they are moving. I am long distance by the way. Can't really help cause I am trying to get ready for this cycle. We don't have a lot of support in our family. Anyway, every time I get an email I get deeply depressed to where I can barely function. I feel like drinking just to blot out the pain but since I am cycling I can't. I have a first meeting with long distance caregivers tonight. I hope this will help. any other advice would be appreciated.

Please don't drink. You have come to the right place to vent out your frustrations.

Sorry to hear about your mother's diagnosis. I hope this meeting with the long distance caregivers went well!

Please do let us know how you are doing.

Take care of yourself, Kathy

Boy can I relate to the depression you are experiencing. You have to take one moment at a time...that is all we can do. And stick together.

Keep positive thoughts, it may even be beneficial with the IVF process. I pray that you get the results desired.

Be comforted that your parents have each other and let them move together into the assisted living. It can be a perfect place for a couple. They clearly are affording it by themselves if they are telling you that is the plan.

Try to stay informed and in touch as you live your life.

Hey there, I just noticed you wrote this post 11 days ago and you said you were doing IVF in 2 weeks. So it'll be in a few days, right? Just wanted to send you sticky baby dust. I don't mean to downplay your care giving issues, but embarking upon parenthood is huge and momentous. Maybe you have success, have a healthy pregnancy and baby!
