I do not celebrate holidays, especially Mother's Day, because my mom doesn't understand that she married and had children. She doesn't know who I am...and I am her 24/7 caregiver.
After the airing of the HBO:The Alzheimer Project, the DVD will be available on Netflix

Did anyone watch this???
What did you think?
Others felt that it was" too clean". It didn't show the violent patient. Alzheimer's is definitely not one-size-fits-all, but so many have manic episodes, that it should be addressed.
Some others felt that if you didn't at least know someone with Alzheimer's, you would've Turned Off the program in the frist few minutes.
I watched all four episodes and I experienced so many feelings that it is hard to put into words. I can relate so much with the Caregivers because i am caring for my 86 year old mom with Alzheimer's currently and she is in that in-between time where she knows something is wrong but she is not quite sure what is the problem. At times it was very depressing since this is a disease that will progress and there is still no cure. It showed me of things still to come. Knowledge is power and learning the details of the current research gave me some measure of hope for the future if not for my mom. I have created a Tribute to my mom on my wall in Facebook as a result. I think the series is important to watch for anyone who has been touched by this devastating disease.
I also watched all the ALZHEIMER PROJECT episodes along with my husband and 24 & 20 year old daughters. We all thought they did a phenomenal job of showing someone at all different stages of this disease and we never cried so much. My 79 year old mother was diagnosed 3 years ago but is quickly progressing. It is an awful thing to have to sit and watch as you begin to lose the Mom you love. We took care of her for a very long time and I never would have done it any other way!
