Awwww! I hear ya on needing to laugh or you'll cry. Did she recall the "memory" fondly?
My mother has been in a nursing home since my dad died last November. She has gone downhill rather quickly. My husband and I went to see her last night. She pointed to a picture of my dad and her (that was taken about 8 years ago, before she got sick) and asked, "You know what that is?" I played along and asked, "What is that?"
She replied, "That's a picture of me and Quinton that was taken at his funeral."
If I hadn't laughed inside, I think I would have cried outside.
