Hi Michelle -
I would not try this. I have many years experience using herbs. Some things bothered me about this.
First one of the herbs is suspected of causing Kidney damage. Alzheimer's is hard enough to deal with when the persons health is good.
They refer to the Nun Study but I would bring it to your attention that these Nuns aren't taking this formula.
The dose is one capsule a day. This is not dosing protocol that runs true when using herbs. Most herbs used when treating an existing condition require multiple doses a day.
There are 10 herbs in this formula. 10 herbs in one capsule means a very low dose of each herb. So low I can't believe they would work if I trusted the formula. Also low enough that they probaly wouldn't harm you if it was just pure organic herbs. But these aren't organic.
Many of these herbs come from Asia. Companies buy these because they are cheap. Most are often grown with high exposure to pesticides and insecticides. These chemicals are very similar to estrogen and often lock into estrogen receptors and not releasing for a long period of time. They also lower immune response and attack nerve cells.
They say that this formula takes about 4 months to really take effect. I am not familiar with these particular herbs to validate their statement. But at the end of 4 months I suspect they would have $100+ dollars profit and you would have no positive results.
I have used Ginko biloba and feel it had positive results. But it's been used for thousands of years. It doesn't cure but I it did help in my opinion. One thing I noticed about Ginko was it seemed to help elevate my mother mood and my mother would be in good spirit 98% of the time. Ginko does take 2 to 4 months to fully show it's effectiveness in most people. We found that to be true but we did start to see improvements after about 2 weeks.
Also on the labels when you buy herbs the dose is something like take 1 or 2 capsules daily as a dietary supplement. This is not a medicinal dose. They are not allowed to put that on the label.
Also, if the person with Alzheimer's goes into a care facility or has a licensed caregiver or nurse at home I doubt they will administer Ginko or any other herb. Prescriptions from a doctor yes but medicinal herbs no.
John
