I'm so sorry your husband had those less-than-good experiences in nursing homes. I'm hope you're all healed up from your surgery and can enjoy having him home with you again. *hugs*
My Husband went to a Nursing Home for a 2 week respite stay while was to have surgery, It has been 4 months later, I did have the surgery, but a month later than planned, He was put on many drugs (7) very bad drugs, He now is off all but 2 drugs & will be coming home by the end of January, to stay. I will have help coming in to assist, & Have also contacted Hospice to help when Needed. Nursing homes aren't all bad but he was in 3 the first 2 months, While in there he got 3 U.T.I. over the 4 months, He never had any ever before. He is a stage of 9 years of Alzheimer's Disease. I know what I have to look forword to as I've done this for a living before. But to be at home for as long as possible is my goal.
