I am writing this because I have a grandmother who has had several strokes and is now showing the early signs of alzheimer's.  She is currently in an nursing home in New Jersey and is going to begin a cognitive stimulation therapy and my family is trying to figure out what Medicare is going to pay.  Is it Part A? B? How much will be covered? We are a little confused because of the mental health parity part of the bailout plan.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you.

Hi liz,

I don't have a specific answer to your question, but I do know you can call 1-800-MEDICARE and speak to someone who will know.  I've heard varying reports on this service, which is run by the federal government.  Some folks feel like it's fantastic.  Others feel a little less than satisifed.  It's still worth a try, though.

Good luck!
