My Mother is showing all the signs of dementia. One is very troubling, though, and I wonder if anyone else has encountered it. She started licking her lips as though they were chapped and it has progressed to involuntary tongue movements. She smacks her lips constantly and allows her tongue to hang out. We took her to an ENT, and he found nothing wrong. She saw a neurologist last week, and he didn't even address the issue. I live 1200 miles away, and try to visit every 8 to 12 weeks. Mom is 84, Dad is caring for her....so far.

Please let me know if you have observed this behavior in connection with dementia or AD. Thank you.
