My father recently called me saying he was concerned about my mother due to the fact that she hasn't been acting like herself. Saying that she just stares into space because she forgets what she was talking about. Now my mother is 52 and we recently discussed that she may being going through menopause. My father thinks it may be more serious than this. Any advice on how I can distinguish the two or any advice at all? HELP!
Hello Pruitt07! Welcome to Caring groups.
I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I did find this on the site - perhaps it will help advise you and your father?

At the very least, I think she should see her doctor and your father should explain what he is witnessing to the doctor so she can be assessed.
Best wishes to you and please let us know how it's going!
Believe it or not the doctors and researchers--don't believe going into Menopause can cause alzhemiers (I totally disagree--I believe the extreme aging that happens in some women who goes into menopause)--this can trigger events in the BRAIN which sparks the diease of Alzhemiers..
I believe the researchers and doctors are far behind in this field (and it scares ME)---
I don't mean to Scare you (but please take your mother to a geriatric specialist who can test her memory or a neurologist--and an MRI is a wonderful tool (they can see the shrinkage of the hippocampus--which effects her MEMORY. I wish more research was done on the Brain--to stop shrinkage or dieases like this....
